They should also be wearing quality workout shoes as well. Flip flops or Crocs are not acceptable options. Swimmers are encouraged to bring a yoga mat if they have one. Swimmers attending practices at Riley please continue to fill out the on-line daily screening before arriving to Riley. You can find that link by clicking here. Parents Return I was informed late last week our parents are now allowed to stay and watch practice at Riley High School. Parents will be expected to wear a mask when in the building and maintain appropriate social distancing protocols from those not in their immediate family. Munster Summer Splash I will update all the pertinent pages on our website as soon as I receive the results file. IHSAA Moratorium Week Monday June 28 - Sunday July 4 Each summer the IHSAA mandates the week that contains July 4th there is to be no contact between high school coaches and their athletes. This week we will not be offering practices at NPHS, but those athletes are welcome to attend practies at Riley. I will be at practice but I will not be on deck. I will be sequestered in the office and available to meet with any non-high school swimmer or any parent. All high school swimmers (or soon to be high school swimmers) are not be in the office for any reason. Swimmers are not to arrive prior to 6:20 AM or 4:50 PM. No swimmer will be allowed into the building until another coach arrives. Once in the building swimmers should enter and exit the pool through the locker rooms. If an athlete texts or emails me on or after June 28th they will not receive a reply. If there is communication that needs to happen it has to be initiated by the parents. I realize with the MAAPP guidelines parents and swimmers have been including each other in their messages to me, I will not respond to any text that has a swimmer included. I know this may sound confusing so if you have any questions please let me know. Team Backpacks There are still several quality backpacks available. If your swimmer needs an everyday bag these would work very well. If you would like one for your swimmer send me an email and after an upcoming practice we will allow them to pick one out. Spring and Summer Meet Schedule/Dates of Meet/Location/Deadline to commit Below is our spring/summer meet schedule. The first date listed is the day(s) of the meet and second date is the deadline to commit. Swimmers wanting to compete will need to commit to those meets. The deadlines are based on deadlines that were set in previous years. They may change once the meet hosts posts the meet information. When committing to multiple day meets if the option to select the days you want is not available, leave a message in the available notes section of the specific days you would like to attend. Meets marked with an * are meets that require swimmers to meet certain time standards. All pool locations can be found on our website under the "Pools" tab. Most of what is being implemented is common sense and falls in line with our club's policies. One new requirement we will need to adhere to is how your minor child communicates with me. For several years I have asked swimmers in Group 2 and Group 3 to text/email me if they would be missing practice. Moving forward, swimmers will be instructed to include a parent on all communication with me.
If you are the parent of a Group 2 or Group 3 swimmer, and have never sent me a text before, please text me so I have your contact info in my phone. This way if I need to contact your swimmer about missing practice I can be sure to include you. My cell phone number is 574-276-6057.
I encourage all parents and swimmers to read the full policy. We are required to keep this policy on our website, here is the link. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. -- John VanDriessche Head Coach South Bend Swim Club South Bend Riley High School (574)276-6057 www.southbendswimclub.com #SBSCForLife
