Upcoming Meets
Today Sunday, October 28th, is the deadline to commit to the LCB Invite being held 11/30-12/2. This meet is being held at Lake Central High School in St. John Indiana.

This was also going to be the deadline for the IA meet but there meet letter just came out and we have another week.  So the new deadline to commit to the IA Invite (being held 1/4-1/6) is next Sunday November 4thWe are also asking all of the Group 3 athletes commit to the IA Invite.  This meet will require a waiver for all highs school swimmers.

I realize these meets are several weeks away and you might not know your family's plans.  Both meet directors allow us to make modifications a couple of weeks prior to the meet, including removing swimmers from the entry.  So, if there is a possibility for these meets please commit your swimmer.

Team T-shirts
I have had a few parents ask about placing a second order for T-shirts.  If we receive enough interest (I believe the minimum order is 15) we will place another order.  If you would like a T-shirt I need to know no later then next Sunday November 4th.  If you want to place an order please email me  with "T-Shirt" in the subject line.  Please include the sizes you would like.

I do have the parent shirts in the pool office.  Please stop by after practice if you placed an order.

Munster Meets in January
I was informed on Monday that Munster is no longer hosting those meets due to a scheduling conflict.  We will now be attending the CON IMXtreme Meet the weekend of January 18th-20th.  The deadline to commit to this meet is Sunday December 23rd. (Date may be earlier once the meet letter is published with the exact entry deadlines).  The meet is up on our website but the entry file is not yet available so you are unable to select the days/sessions you are able to attend.  If you are unable to attend the entire meet please indicate which days you can attend in the notes section.

Group 2 Night at RHS
Every year we ask our Group 2 swimmers to help time at a dual meet.  This year the meet is on Thursday November 29th and is against Clay High School.  The club will provide pizza for all the swimmers that attend.  The start time is still up in the air and I will communicate that to everyone as soon as it is confirmed.

Advertising Credit
A Group 2 or Group 3 annual membership plus all the other associated fees with our membership -- spirit wear, meet surcharges, technology fees, concession stand/hospitality fees, USA Swimming-- is approximately $550 for an entire year. (A Group 1 annual membership is about $100 less.)  If you were able to sell two of the Premiere+ adds it could easily pay for a whole year of swimming including meet entry fees!
Selling a one year ad to one company could earn you anywhere from $50 to almost $500. Here is the link for more information.

Another easy way to earn credit for your swim club account is to hang our recruiting posters out in the public. For every poster you hang you will receive a $5 credit up to $25. Once you hang the poster post a pic of it on your Facebook page (or other social site) and tag the club.

Fall and Winter Meet Schedule/Dates of Meet/Location/Deadline to commit
Below is our fall/winter meet schedule.  Swimmers wanting to compete will need to commit to those meets.  The deadlines are based on deadlines that were set last year. They may change once the meet hosts posts the meet information.  When committing to multiple day meets please leave a message in the available notes section of what days you would like to attend. Meets marked with an * are meets that require swimmers to meet certain time standards.  All pool locations can be found on our website under the "Pools" tab

Upcoming Meets
Tonight, Sunday October 21st, is the deadline to commit to the SWAC meet being held in Ft. Wayne at the HPB Natatorium the weekend of November 16th-18th.  This meet is most appropriate for our swimmers with more experience.  It is not being limited, but if you are new to the team this season I suggest you choose either Saturday or Sunday to attend.  I would like ALL of our Group 3 swimmers to attend this meet.  This does require a waiver for the high school girls but not the boys.

Next Sunday, October 28th, is the deadline to commit to the LCB Invite (11/30-12/2).  It is also the deadline to commit to the IA Invite (1/4-1/6).  We are also asking all of the Group 3 athletes commit to the IA Invite.

Swim-A-Thon
Thank you to all the parents who volunteered to count laps yesterday.  A bigger thanks to all the families who went out and received donations this year.  This is the 6th year in a row we have reached our goal.  The Swim-a-thon officially runs through the 27th.  If you have received cash or check donations you can turn those in at practice this week.  On-line donations are also still being accepted through this week as well.

We had 70 swimmers receive donations this season.  We currently have 144 swimmers on our rosters.  While it is very gratifying to reach our goal every season it is more then a little disappointing so many are choosing not to participate. This is the only fundraising we do the entire year.  Swimming clubs across the country have minimum fundraising requirements attached to their memberships.  I hope we are never in that position where it becomes a requirement for us.  If you did not raise any money this year and you have a reason why you didn't, please let me know.

G1 Elite Monday 5:30-7:30
Group 2 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 5:30-7:30, and Friday 5:00-6:30

NPHS Practice Groups
Group 1 Tuesday and Wednesday 6:00-7:15 CST
Group 2&3 Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 5:30-7:30 CST

Practice Notes: South Bend and New Prairie Schools are having fall break this week. Because of this and NP teacher conferences we are slightly adjusting this week schedules.  RHS Group 3 will only have morning practice on Monday and Tuesday.  The RHS Group 3 PM practices Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will start 30 minutes earlier to better accommodate pool space for our younger groups.

NP Group 1 will practice on Tuesday and Wednesday.  There will be no practices at NP on Thursday due to some planned electrical work in the pool area.

Swimmers attending morning practice should enter through door #22.  This door faces Fellows Street and is on the the northwest corner of the building.  It is the same door we use during the summer months.  Swimmers attending Group 2's Friday practice should bring dryland clothes including running shoes.

Upcoming Meets
Tonight is the deadline to commit to the NASA Sprint Meet being held November 3rd and 4th at Northridge High School. This is an appropriate meet for everyone in our club.  Remember, you are allowed to pick either days of the meet or swim in both.  Meet participation is completely a family decision.  This meet does fall during the girls high school swim season but not require a waiver for the high school girls to compete.

Next Sunday, October 21st is the deadline to commit to the SWAC meet being held in Ft.

Suit Fittings by Just Add H2O
If you ordered a suit the plan is they will be delivered to us prior to the NASA meet the first weekend in November. If you were unable to make it to either of the suit fittings last week you can always stop by the their store located at 17911 SR 23 near the corner of 23 and Ironwood.  Let them know you are with SBSC and they will take care of you. If you order prior to the Wednesday your order will be included with the original.

If you are interested, Emerson Kim's mother (Ramona Kim, rkharpist@yahoo.com) is selling a never used team suit size 24. The suit does have our team logo but was too small for Emerson and her sister Alena.  If you are interested email Ramona.

Swim-A-Thon at Riley High School This Saturday October 20th
As of this morning we are just 51% of our way towards our goal.
We currently have 133 swimmers active in our program. Only 35 swimmers have received donations so far. Of those 35 only 21 have hit the $80 mark (the total that each swimmer would have to raise to hit our goal).  If you take away the donations made by one family we are only at 30% of our goal with less then one week to the event.

This is the only fundraising we do for the entire year and it is imperative for our operating budget.  I realize every activity your child participates in does fundraising. I am also aware you can only call ask the grandparents only so many times.  But it very easy to set up your swimmer's account, send out to your email and put a link on your Facebook page. The funds this season are going to allow our coaches to attend clinics, pay for a strength and conditioning coach,  and upgrade our underwater cameras.

We also need some parent volunteers to count laps.  We will have coffee and donuts for parents if they are able to help.  All swimmers are expected to participate the day of the event regardless of the amount of money raised or not raised.  Swimmers need to be on deck by 7:45.  We will get in the water at 8:00.  Swimmers are done when they complete 200 laps or swim for 2 hours whichever comes first.

VS. CON Dual Meet
Thank you to the parents who volunteered to time yesterday. Our club survives on small gestures of volunteerism just like this. I realize we do ask a lot of parents for a few weeks every October, but I want you to know how much I appreciate all you do for the club.  Thanks again.

Here is the link to our results.  If you notice that your swimmer does not have a time for every event it is because they were disqualified or missed their event.  Most of the time when our less experienced swimmers get disqualified it is for some fairly basic things.  We may not always be aware of the exact nature of the DQ, but we do spend time working on all the skills that are typically called for infractions at every practice.  Here is the link to our all time top ten and our updated qualifiers page.
