Group 2&3 Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 5:30-7:30 CST

Practice Notes: South Bend and New Prairie Schools are having fall break this week. Because of this and NP teacher conferences we are slightly adjusting this week schedules.  RHS Group 3 will only have morning practice on Monday and Tuesday.  The RHS Group 3 PM practices Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will start 30 minutes earlier to better accommodate pool space for our younger groups.

NP Group 1 will practice on Tuesday and Wednesday.  There will be no practices at NP on Thursday due to some planned electrical work in the pool area.

Swimmers attending morning practice should enter through door #22.  This door faces Fellows Street and is on the the northwest corner of the building.  It is the same door we use during the summer months.  Swimmers attending Group 2's Friday practice should bring dryland clothes including running shoes.

Upcoming Meets
Tonight is the deadline to commit to the NASA Sprint Meet being held November 3rd and 4th at Northridge High School. This is an appropriate meet for everyone in our club.  Remember, you are allowed to pick either days of the meet or swim in both.  Meet participation is completely a family decision.  This meet does fall during the girls high school swim season but not require a waiver for the high school girls to compete.

Next Sunday, October 21st is the deadline to commit to the SWAC meet being held in Ft. Wayne at the HPB Natatorium the weekend of November 16th-18th.  This meet is most appropriate for our swimmers with more experience.  It is not being limited, but if you are new to the team this season I suggest you choose either Saturday or Sunday to attend.  I would like ALL of our Group 3 swimmers to attend this meet.  This does require a waiver for the high school girls but not the boys.

Suit Fittings by Just Add H2O
If you ordered a suit the plan is they will be delivered to us prior to the NASA meet the first weekend in November. If you were unable to make it to either of the suit fittings last week you can always stop by the their store located at 17911 SR 23 near the corner of 23 and Ironwood.  Let them know you are with SBSC and they will take care of you. If you order prior to the Wednesday your order will be included with the original.

If you are interested, Emerson Kim's mother (Ramona Kim, rkharpist@yahoo.com) is selling a never used team suit size 24. The suit does have our team logo but was too small for Emerson and her sister Alena.  If you are interested email Ramona.

Swim-A-Thon at Riley High School This Saturday October 20th
As of this morning we are just 51% of our way towards our goal.
We currently have 133 swimmers active in our program. Only 35 swimmers have received donations so far. Of those 35 only 21 have hit the $80 mark (the total that each swimmer would have to raise to hit our goal).  If you take away the donations made by one family we are only at 30% of our goal with less then one week to the event.

This is the only fundraising we do for the entire year and it is imperative for our operating budget.  I realize every activity your child participates in does fundraising. I am also aware you can only call ask the grandparents only so many times.  But it very easy to set up your swimmer's account, send out to your email and put a link on your Facebook page. The funds this season are going to allow our coaches to attend clinics, pay for a strength and conditioning coach,  and upgrade our underwater cameras.

We also need some parent volunteers to count laps.  We will have coffee and donuts for parents if they are able to help.  All swimmers are expected to participate the day of the event regardless of the amount of money raised or not raised.  Swimmers need to be on deck by 7:45.  We will get in the water at 8:00.  Swimmers are done when they complete 200 laps or swim for 2 hours whichever comes first.

VS. CON Dual Meet
Thank you to the parents who volunteered to time yesterday. Our club survives on small gestures of volunteerism just like this. I realize we do ask a lot of parents for a few weeks every October, but I want you to know how much I appreciate all you do for the club.  Thanks again.

Here is the link to our results.  If you notice that your swimmer does not have a time for every event it is because they were disqualified or missed their event.  Most of the time when our less experienced swimmers get disqualified it is for some fairly basic things.  We may not always be aware of the exact nature of the DQ, but we do spend time working on all the skills that are typically called for infractions at every practice.  Here is the link to our all time top ten and our updated qualifiers page.

Advertising Credit
A Group 2 or Group 3 annual membership plus all the other associated fees with our membership -- spirit wear, meet surcharges, technology fees, concession stand/hospitality fees, USA Swimming-- is approximately $550 for an entire year. (A Group 1 annual membership is about $100 less.)  If you were able to sell two of the Premiere+ adds it could easily pay for a whole year of swimming including meet entry fees!
Selling a one year ad to one company could earn you anywhere from $50 to almost $500. Here is the link for more information.

Another easy way to earn credit for your swim club account is to hang our recruiting posters out in the public. For every poster you hang you will receive a $5 credit up to $25. Once you hang the poster post a pic of it on your Facebook page (or other social site) and tag the club.

Fall and Winter Meet Schedule/Dates of Meet/Location/Deadline to commit
Below is our fall/winter meet schedule.  Swimmers wanting to compete will need to commit to those meets.  The deadlines are based on deadlines that were set last year. They may change once the meet hosts posts the meet information.  When committing to multiple day meets please leave a message in the available notes section of what days you would like to attend. Meets marked with an * are meets that require swimmers to meet certain time standards.  All pool locations can be found on our website under the "Pools" tab
