Practice notes: No practice on Friday due to the IA meet. All NP swimmers are welcome to attend their corresponding group's practices at Riley.

NCISC Championship Meet February 10th
If you have previously committed your swimmer to this meet please double check to see they are still committed.  Due to an error when I was creating this event on our website I imported all of the committed swimmers from last winter's meet.  To make sure it was accurate I had to delete the original meet and re-create the event.  The deadline to commit to this meet is January 28th.  High School girls not qualifying for the IHSAA State Championships are eligible to swim in this meet.

Also, sometime during the next two weeks the job sign-ups for this meet will be active and you can choose a job you'd like to do.  On your February invoice you will see a $10 concession stand/hospitality fee.  This will be charged to all families including those with Group 3 swimmers still competing with their high school teams.

Advertising Credit 


We have had 3 new advertisers to our website this season.  These advertisers were sold ad space by two of our families.  It has generated a total $725.85 of credit on their swim club accounts!  We will give 50% of whatever money raised right back to to you!!  The best sales commission ever?!

A Group 2 or Group 3 annual membership plus all the other associated fees with our membership -- spirit wear, meet surcharges, technology fees, concession stand/hospitality fees, USA Swimming-- is just under $550 for an entire year. (A Group 1 annual membership is about $100 less.)  If you were able to sell two of the the Premiere+ adds it could easily pay for a whole year of swimming including meet entry fees!

Selling a one year ad to one company could earn you anywhere from $50 to almost $500. Here is the link for more information. 

Another easy way to earn credit for your swim club account is to hang our recruiting posters out in the public. For every poster you hang you will receive a $5 credit up to $25. Once you hang the poster post a pic of it on your Facebook page (or other social site) and tag the club.

Practice notes: No practice Monday, MERRY CHRISTMAS! Due to a meet scheduling change for the RHS swim teams our Group 2 and G1 Elite practice on Wednesday will be from 7-9:30 AM.  All NP swimmers are welcome to attend their corresponding group's practices at Riley.  A reminder to swimmers attending Friday's practice to please bring dry-and clothes including running shoes.

Riley VS Munster HS & Valparaiso HS Triple Dual MeetAs mentioned above in the practice notes we are hosting a meet on Wednesday.  The change in locations is due to Munster, the original host, having their pool refilled last week and it will not be ready in time for our meet.  Due to the lateness in the change of venue we are concerned about the lack of help we may have running the meet.   We are asking that any of our Group 2 swimmers who are available to help, serve as timers for this meet.  We will provide lunch for those swimmers after the meet.  I will also give each of those swimmers a brand new cap for volunteering their time.  If possible please have all swimmers volunteering wear a SBSC shirt.

Team Christmas PartyThis Thursday December 21st we will be having our annual Christmas pool party.  Siblings and parents are invited to come swim with the team.  We will do $5 gift exchange for the swimmers and any other children in attendance.  If you bring a gift you will receive a gift.  Group 2 will have practice from 5:00-6:00.  The party will be from 6:00-7:30

Dune Rumble In The RegionAnother great performance from our swimmers.  Coach Brett and Coach Lydia led our team to a 2nd place finish yesterday! We had at least 2 new Divisional cuts and several new best times.  I will post the official meet results as soon as I receive the file from the meet host.

Christmas Break Practices

SWAC Pre-lim/Final Invite November 17th-19th HPB Natatorium Ft. Wayne
The deadline for committing to the meet is tonight, Sunday October 22nd.  The format for this meet is the same as our championships meets at the end of the season.  This could be a great learning experience for all of our athletes. If there are high school girls that are interested in attending they will need to contact their school's athletic director to obtain a waiver.

Swim-A-Thon
I can not express my gratitude enough for the last week we have had.  In the time between the weekly emails we have raised over $8400!! An unbelievable week.  We had 47 swimmers donate at least $100.  We also had 7 swimmers that were able to collect $500 or more.  A total of 73 of our swimmers contributed to this year's Swim-A-Thon. Thank you to all the families and swimmers who helped us achieve our goal.  Thanks again to all the parents who came down and deck and helped count our swimmer's laps.
 

Golden Goggles
The Golden Goggles is USA Swimming's annual awards ceremony for their athletes and coaches.  It also serves as their fundraiser for the USA Swimming  Foundation.  Each year they recognize several outstanding performances.  This year one of our very own has been nominated for an award.  Bethany Galat, a senior at Texas A&M and former SBSC member, has been nominated for the "Breakout Performer of the Year".  You can click here to read Bethany's short bio and to cast your vote for her.

Team T-shirts

Team shirts were handed out to all the swimmers (and parents if they ordered) that were in attendance at the Swim-A-Thon.  We will hand out shirts to the other swimmers this week at practice.  Parents if you ordered shirts please wait until practice has ended before coming into the office to pick up yours.  We do have team suits that were ordered from Just Add H20 and will be handing those out as well.  The shirts for the NP swimmers and families will be delivered to NP one day this week

Dune Rumble In The Region, Chesterton High School, Saturday December 16th
I have attached the meet letter and our entry for this Saturday's meet.  Coach Lydia (574-335-9547) and Coach Brett (574-250-6358) will be the coaches on deck at this meet.  If you are unable to make it or you will be running late please contact either one.  I have attached a link of a Google map above.  Click on Chesterton High School to view.

SWAC Invite
Great performances from our kids the entire weekend.  We had 21 swimmers competing (only a few swam all 3 days) and we had 58 new best times!  Here is a link to our new all time top ten, the updated qualifiers page, and our improvement report.  I have also attached a report of our swimmers event placings.

Group 2 Night at Riley High School This Thursday, November 30th
Every high school season we invite the swimmers in Group 2 to a Riley meet to serve as our timers.  The club will provide pizza and drinks for everyone. All swimmers attending will need to wear this season's SBSC team T-shirt.  We would like the swimmers to arrive between 5:15-5:30.  We will serve them dinner at 5:30.  The swimming portion of the meet will begin at 6:00 and should last until about 7:30.

RHS Practice Groups

Group 1:  Tuesday and Wednesday 6:00-7:30
G1 Elite: Monday 5:15-7:30
Group 2: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 5:15-7:30, Friday, and Saturday 9:00 AM-11:15 AM


NPHS Practice Groups

Group 1:  Monday and Wednesday 6:00-7:30 CST
Group 2: Monday and Wednesday 5:15-7:30 CST

Practice notes: No practice at New Prairie on Tuesday due to a high school meet.  No practice at either site on Thursday due to Thanksgiving.  NP Swimmers are always welcome to attend any of their corresponding group practices at RHS.

SWAC Invite
Outstanding first two days for SBSC!  I will post results and update all pertinent pages on our website as soon as I receive the results file.

Group 2 Night at Riley High School Thursday November 30th
Every high school season we invite the swimmers in Group 2 to a Riley meet to serve as our timers.  The club will provide pizza and drinks for everyone. All swimmers attending will need to wear this season's SBSC team T-shirt.  We would like the swimmers to arrive between 5:15-5:30.  We will serve them dinner at 5:30.  The swimming portion of the meet will begin at 6:00 and should last until about 7:30.

Golden Goggles
The Golden Goggles is USA Swimming's annual awards ceremony for their athletes and coaches.  It also serves as their fundraiser for the USA Swimming  Foundation.  Each year they recognize several outstanding performances.  This year one of our very own has been nominated for an award.  Bethany Galat, a senior at Texas A&M and former SBSC member, has been nominated for the "Breakout Performer of the Year".  You can click here to read Bethany's short bio and to cast your vote for her.

Another easy way to earn credit for your swim club account is to hang our recruiting posters out in the public. For every poster you hang you will receive a $5 credit up to $25. Once you hang the poster post a pic of it on your Facebook page (or other social site) and tag the club.

Below is our fall/winter meet schedule.  Swimmers wanting to compete will need to commit to those meets.  The deadlines are based on deadlines that were set last year. I have attached our meet entry.  The pool name above is linked to a Google map to help you locate the facility. I will be the coach on deck on Friday and Saturday (574-276-6057).  Coach Ted will be the coach on deck on Sunday (574-360-9187). Here are the pertinent times for this weekend's meet:

Warm-ups 4:30-5:20 (Our swimmers need to be on deck by 4:15)

NASA Sprint MeetCongratulations to the entire team! We had 191 new best times!!!  Willa Krichef set a new team record in the 9-10 girls 25 Fly (16.22).  Joe Radde set new team records in the 13-14 boys 100 Free (51.47), 200 Back (2:08.90), 100 Fly (56.07), 100 Back (58.75), and 100 IM (58.20). Group 1's practice end time will be 7:30 for the rest of the season.  Group 2's practice will begin at 5:15 for the next several weeks.  Group 3's next scheduled practice will be in February NP swimmers are welcome to attend any of their corresponding group's practices at RHS.  Group 2 swimmers attending Friday practice are reminded to bring workout clothes including running shoes.

NASA Sprint MeetI will post the results as soon as I receive the file and I will update all the pertinent pages on our website as well

2nd T-shirt order
We will be placing a second T-shirt order. If you would like to order one please send me an email with T-shirt in the subject box.  I will place the charge on your swim club account.  The printing company is not able get us on their schedule until next week.   The deadline for ordering a shirt will be this Saturday November 11th.

Golden Goggles
The Golden Goggles is USA Swimming's annual awards ceremony for their athletes and coaches.  It also serves as their fundraiser for the USA Swimming  Foundation.  Each year they recognize several outstanding performances.  This year one of our very own has been nominated for an award.  Bethany Galat, a senior at Texas A&M and former SBSC member, has been nominated for the "Breakout Performer of the Year".  You can click here to read Bethany's short bio and to cast your vote for her.

NPHS Practice Groups

Group 1: Wednesday and Thursday 6:00-7:30 CST
Group 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 5:30-7:30 CST
Group 3: Monday, Tuesday Wednesday, and Thursday 5:00-7:30 CST

Practice notes: Group 1 at both locations will not practice on Tuesday due to Halloween.  Group 2 and Group3 will practice on Tuesday.  Starting on November 1st and lasting until the end of the winter season Group 1 practices will extend to 90 minutes and finish at 7:30. NP swimmers are welcome to attend any of their corresponding group's practices at RHS.  Group 2 swimmers attending Friday practice are reminded to bring workout clothes including running shoes.

IA Meet and LCB Meet
The deadline for committing to these meets is this evening.  I would like all of our Group 3 swimmers to swim on Friday and Saturday of the IA meet.  If they would like to swim Sunday they are of course free to select that day also.  High School swimmers will need a waiver for this meet.  Waivers are done by each school's athletic director

NASA Sprint MeetThe meet letter and our entry our attached.  You can always log in to your account on our website to find your swimmer's events.  You can also use the OnDeck app.  Parents please write your swimmer's event numbers on their hand/arm.  It will alleviate quite a bit of work for our coaches if this is done prior to your swimmer arriving at the pool.

Here are the pertinent times for this weekend's meet:
Saturday and Sunday AM Sessions (all 10 and under swimmers)
Warm-ups 7:00-7:50 our swimmers need to be on deck by 6:45
Meet starts 8:05

Saturday and Sunday PM sessions (all 11 and over swimmers)
Warm-ups 12:00-1:00 -- our swimmers need to be on deck by 11:45
Meet Starts 1:15

Evaluations for G1 and G2

Over the last week or so our coaching staff has been handing out evaluations to our Group 1 and Group 2 swimmers.  Parents should have also received an email copy of the evaluation.  Our staff has been looking for ways to increase motivation and find ways to improve swimmer's (and parent's) experience with our club.  This is our first attempt at this and we will be evaluating ourselves and the tools we are using in the process.  We plan to do two more evaluations this season.  One prior to Christmas beak and prior to the February CON meet. If you have any suggestions or would like to share your thoughts, good or bad, please let me know.  If you did not receive an evaluation please contact your swimmer's primary coach. 

2nd T-shirt order
We have had a few swimmers join the team after we placed our initial order.  I have also heard from some of our parents they would like to order some shirts as well.  I spoke with our vendor and if we can get at least 12 shirts ordered we can place an order.  If you are interested in a T-shirt or your swimmer has not yet received a T-shirt please let me know ASAP.
