Practice notes: Any Group 2 swimmer wishing to continue to swim this month may practice with Group 3.  The last practice for the fall and winter season will be Wednesday March 29th.

Senior State Championships Recap
An absolutely great weekend for SBSC.  We finished in 11th place overall, tying our highest ever finish at any state championships (We also finished 11th last winter at Senior State).  We set 9 new individual team records. Forrest Baumgartner set new records in the 50 Free (21.81) and the 100 Free (47.79).  Aiden Maurer set a new record in the 200 Free (1:44.01).  Abby Kirkpatrick set new records in the 100 Breast (1:02.28), 100 Free (50.40) and 200 IM (2:01.99).  Kayla Molnar set new records in the 500 Free (5:01.59), 1000 Free (10:26.67), and 1650 Free (17:44.12).  We had 25 other swims move up the rankings in our all time top ten.  Congratulations swimmers on a fantastic meet

Here are the pertinent times for this weekend:

Thursday-Sunday Pre-lims
Warm-ups 6:00-8:50 (our swimmers should be on deck by 7:45)
Meet Starts 9:00

Thursday-Saturday Finals
Warm-ups 4:00-5:15 (our swimmer should be on deck by 4:15)
Meet Starts 5:30

Sunday Finals
Warm-ups 3:00-4:15 (our swimmers should be on deck by 3:15)
Meet Starts 4:30

Swimmers attending this meet are expected to return for finals each evening is SBSC has anyone qualifying for the final session.  Sunday evening not included.

Spring Registration
Our spring and summer registration is now open.  I am asking for everyone's help in spreading the word.  There is a link on our Facebook page and if everyone could share this post it would significantly increase our visibility.
Our first practices will be on Monday April 10th.  The registration is only for new swimmers or former SBSC swimmers not currently registered for the fall/winter season.  All current swimmers will be moved over to our spring roster and their billing status will remain the same. (Annual payers-no change, monthly payers-will continue to be billed monthly, seasonal payers-billed April 1st for the spring/summer season).  If you do not plan to swim with club this spring or summer please email me prior to March 26th to avoid being charged for the April billing cycle.

Fitter and Faster Tours
Here is some information for some upcoming clinics in our area you might be interested in attending.

The first ones are being held at Concord High School on April 29th and 30th.  The one on the 29th is part of the Green Flag series designed for swimmers who have been competing for less then 2 years.  If you are interested in this clinic use the code: FLAGELK to save $64. The second day of the clinic, on the 30th, is the High Performance clinic and it is for ALL swimmers 12 and older.  The code for this event is INDY and that will also save you $64.  Here is the link to that registration page.

Senior State Championships
Once again our swimmers are doing an outstanding job.  We have already set several new team records with one day left to go. You can follow all the action on your Meet Mobile app.  I will update and post the pertinent pages to our website as soon as I receive the results file.
Age Group State  With only 7 swimmers competing we were still able to place 25th overall as a team!  We also set 10 new individual records and 3 new relay records.  Congratulations to the following swimmers.  Autumn Baumgartner set new records in the 13-14 girls 50 Free (24.94), 100 Back (58.35) 100 Free (53.11) and 500 Free (5:15.51).  Michael Burns set new records in the 13-14 boys 200 Breast (2:20.63) and 200 IM (2:09.16).  Evie Sierra set a new record in the 13-14 girls 200 Fly (2:08.91), 1000 Free (10:41.73), and 1650 Free (17:41.40) Sammy Sierra set a new record in the 13-14 boys 200 Fly (2:08.71).  Also Autumn, Evie, Gabby Costa and Lauren Meyer set new 13-14 records in the 400 Medley Relay (4:03.55), 200 Free Relay (1:42.68), and the 400 Free Relay (3:43.75).

Speedo Sectionals
I will be sending out our entry sometime tomorrow.  If your swimmer has cuts and you would like them entered, and you have not informed me already, please email me sometime today.

Practice notes: No practice on Friday for Group 3 due to the Senior State meet.  The last practices for G1 Elite, Group 1, and Group 2 are this week.  Group 3 will continue to practice until the 29th.  All Group 2 swimmers are welcome to attend the Group 3 workouts starting next week.

Our entry has been sent but we can still make changes through tomorrow night.  If you notice any errors please let me know immediately. Here are the pertinent times for this weekend's meet.

If we have swimmers who qualify for finals every swimmer attending the meet will be expected to attend the Friday and Saturday finals. Regardless if they have qualified or not.
Age Group State  We have a small number of athletes competing this weekend and they are doing an outstanding job.  After two days, with only 7 swimmers, we are currently in 24th place. You can follow our swimmers today on the Meet Mobile app or watch for updates on our social media platforms.

Speedo Sectionals
This meet was not put on our schedule this year due to dates of the meet falling on the first weekend of our spring break.  I wrongly assumed there would not be any interest in this meet.  We have had a few swimmers express an interest in attending so the meet is back on our schedule.  If your swimmer has met the qualifying times and would like to attend this meet please let me know no later then this evening, Sunday March 12th.

Divisional Results

The Divisional meet has historically been a very good meet for the South Bend Swim Club.  Every year we seem to swim very fast at this meet no matter the pool.  We’ve had great meets in Ft. Wayne, Crown Point, Munster and in Middlebury.  This year we may have topped them all.  Over the weekend our swimmers achieved 26 new Age Group State or Senior State cuts.  This was far more than any other team in attendance.  We also saw several new swims enter our all time top ten and saw multiple swimmers move up in the rankings.  We also had 3 new team records established.  Michael Burns set 2 new records in the 13-14 boys age group.   He now holds the record in the 200 Fly (2:13.51) and the 100 back (1:00.59).  Aiden Maurer set our other team record in the 15-18 boys 200 IM (1:59.65).  Even more impressive is we had 39 swimmers in attendance and were able to post an incredible 156 new best times!  You can click here for all of our results.

As fast as we were in the pool it was the other things I was just as proud of.  The meet director made a point to come see me after the meet to let me know how impressed he was with our swimmers.  He said if there was a spirit award given at this meet it would have easily have gone to our club.  It was also very nice to hear the support from the parents in the stands every time a SBSC swimmer was being announced or how loud the parents were in every close race.

The one other story I wanted to share with you is how four of our Group 3 swimmers showed some true sportsmanship.  After the meet had ended I was approached by some swimmers from the Plymouth Aquatic Club who wanted some help.  They were very near a state cut in the 200 Free Relay and were going to do a time trial and felt if they had some to race they could have a better chance of making their cut.  Without hesitation, our 4 swimmers that were still at the pool changed back into their suits and willingly jumped back in to help.  Plymouth came up about .6 seconds short but our swimmers once again gave us another reason to be proud.  Great job Errol, Joey, Brett, and Aiden way to represent yourselves, teammates, and club!

Divisional ChampionshipsAn incredible first two days of the meet for our swimmers. You can follow the meet on the Meet Mobile app or you check out all of our pics from finals on most of our social media platforms. I will post the results and update our website pages as soon as I receive the results file.

Parent Shirts For Divisionals
I apologize to those parents that wanted a team shirt and were not able to purchase one.  I decided against it for this meet for a couple of reasons.  The first being I forgot to mention the shirts in any of the previous emails. I felt it would not be appropriate for some to have one when others were not afforded the opportunity if they wanted one.  The second being the distraction and amount of time it takes away form me coaching the swimmers at the meet.   This may not seem like a valid reason but the amount of time it takes from sorting and making sure

We will be offering shirts to parents for Age Group State.  If you would like a shirt I need to know by this evening
