Weekly Announcements for week of 4/26-5/2
Dear SBSC Families,
Here is our practice schedule for the week
Group 1 Tuesday and Thursday 6:00-7:00 RHS
G1 Elite Monday 5:30-7:15 RHS
Group 2 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 5:30-7:15, and Friday 5:00-6:30 RHS
Group 3 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 3:30-5:30, and Friday 3:00-5:00 RHS
New Families
In last week's email I mentioned there were two things I needed from each family; a copy of your swimmer's birth certificate and for you to set up the auto-pay in your account on our website. To date I have only received one birth certificate. Please get those to me ASAP. Swimmers need those on file before they compete in a meet. If you have not set up the auto-pay you should have received a second email explaining how to do that. One item I need that I failed to mention is a USA Swimming form to be filled out and turned in as well. We are required to keep a hard copy of this form. I have attached a copy here. If you are new or you did not swim with us over the winter please download, fill out, and return to me at your swimmer's next practice
May Team Social Outing
We have reserved two outdoor suites at Four Winds Field on Saturday May 23rd. The game starts at 7:00 with the gates opening at 6:00. The first 750 fans in the stadium will receive a free T-shirt. They are also giving away 1 flat scree to a fan every inning. We have space left for 18 people at $25 per person. These spots will be on a first come first serve basis. Once you let me know how many people in your family will be attending I will add those charges to your club account. For those you that have not been to the stadium for some time it really is a great place for family entertainment
High School Physicals
After school on Wednesday May 13th Riley High School is offering physicals to all current or incoming high school students for $15. If your child is planning on being part of a high school athletic team next school year they need a physical dated after May 1st, 2015. I have attached the IHSAA physical form here. Parents signatures must be completed before any physical will be conducted
Car Decals
If anyone is interested is in a window decal for your car or you need to replace the one you currently have stop by the pool office after any practice to pick one up.

Fitter and Faster Tour Sunday May 3rd
Please spread the word about this great clinic and the incredible clinicians we have coming. We are very excited about having Megan Romano, 3 time Olympic trial finalist in 2012 and anchor of two gold medal winning relays at 2013 World Championships along with Connor Jaeger, Olympian, National Champion, and American record holder coming to our pool to be our clinicians. Here is the link to the registration page if you have not already signed up. We are also looking for 2 more parent volunteers. You would need to Riley by 6:30 to help set-up. You will receive a Fitter and Faster T-shirt for volunteering. If you are able to do this please let me know as soon as you can
Social Media Sites
I am sure most of you are aware we have several social media sites (some a little more active then others). We are doing our absolute best to make sure we use every possible avenue of communication. If you have not done so already please follow, like, or subscribe to all of our sites you may be active on. Over the next few months we are going to be reaching out to advertisers to help with some of our overhead. The larger the presence we have on these sites could help sway some advertisers to spend their money with us. We do have direct links from the SBSC website for Facebook, Twitter and Insta-gram. We also have sites on Google+, Tumblr, Blogger, and YouTube.
Parent meeting Next Tuesday May 5thWe will have a parent meeting on Tuesday May 5th from 6-7 in the RHS cafeteria. The first 30 minutes will be for all families and the last 30 minutes will be for any new families to our club. We would like to have one adult member of each family in attendance.
Lifeguards
Last fall the South Bend School Corporation decided it was time all swim teams using their facilities follow the St. Joseph County ordinance of having lifeguards on deck whenever we have swimmers in the water. This responsibility falls directly on the club, both in staffing and paying the guards. With our limited budget we have to be creative. During Group 3 practices we will be able rotate our swimmers out of practice so no one should miss more then a short time of any practice and once only every few days to once a week. Group 2 practices are little more problematic. Lifeguards need to be 15 and our oldest swimmer in Group 2 is only 14. Last season we asked our Group 3 swimmers to volunteer guard for one practice each month. We are asking they do this again. Please encourage your high school swimmer to volunteer at least one night a month. If we are able to have an all volunteer lifeguard staff we will be able to continue keeping our prices as reasonable as we do
Twyckenham Pool
For the last two summers Twyckenham pool has offered a provisional membership for families who are looking for another opportunity for the children to be part of a swim team. The pool membership itself is $50. Swim team membership is an additional $60 for the first child and $50 for every subsequent child. The provisional membership allows you to have your swimmers join the Twyckenham team and gives you the opportunity to enjoy the pool on selected days. If you would like more information please contact Stephanie Frame at sframe@sbcsc.k12.in.us
As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Upcoming Meet, Dates and (Their Deadlines)
I apologize for such late notice for the first three meets on our schedule. Getting into meets in the summer can be very competitive. I want to make sure our entry is among the first received to increase our chances of our entry being accepted. So, that is why our deadline for committing for all of our meets is right before the hosts teams begin accepting entries.
The NASA meet is one that could be attended by the entire team. This is an especially good meet for our new or less experienced swimmers. It is in short course yards. The LCB meet is more for our experienced swimmers. This meet is in long course meters. Swimmers with Divisional cuts and above should consider attending this meet. The third meet is being held on the campus of Notre Dame. I would recommend our newer swimmers either attend Saturday or Sunday of this meet since it is local. Our more experienced swimmers should plan on attending all 3 days of this meet
