Outreach
Swimmers
Families that checked the box during
registration that indicated your swimmer qualifies for free/reduced lunch are
reminded I will need documentation from the school. Typically anything from the
school office on the school letterhead will suffice. Also if your are new to the team please bring
a copy of your swimmers birth certificate to their first practice.
Fall/Winter Season
The on-line registration
for the fall/winter season is up and running. I have put the link to our
registration on our Facebook page. I am asking everyone with a Facebook
account to share this to their timeline. If at all possible put a
comment with the post about why you have liked being a part of our club.
All families who wish to continue with the club will need to register at this
time. Our first practice will be Tuesday September 5th.
As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago we will be instituting some changes for the upcoming fall/winter season. Here are some of our new policies.
1. (Introduced 7-2) We will be returning to the old meet declaration process. Swimmers will no longer be automatically entered in meets. If a parent wants a swimmer to compete in a meet they will need to commit them. When I changed the policy a few seasons ago the hope was that it would encourage meet attendance. It did not have a substantial impact on the number of swimmers attending meets.
2. (Introduced 7-2) Our training fees have been the same since our club started in 2006. They will remain the same for all first season swimmers and for all swimmers who compete at least once a month. Our primary mission is to be a competitive swim team and that requires competing. If families choose not to have swimmers compete at meets they will pay a higher monthly training fee. Group 1 swimmers will pay $35 (instead of $25), Group 2 will increase to $50 (instead of $35), and Group 3 will increase to $70 (instead of $50) If meets are not offered during a month (September and April) there will not be any additional charges.
3. (Introduced 7-9) Group 3 swimmers will be required to volunteer for 4 hours each season. Our Group 1 and Group 2 practices need lifeguards. Swimmers that are not certified lifeguards can volunteer to help by serving as an assistant to our coaches during those practice times. I anticipate all of the Group 3 swimmers being able to handle this requirement but for those that choose not to their will be a financial penalty equivalent to the cost of a paid lifeguard.
4. (Introduced 7-9) I've updated our tech suit policy. I've changed some of the age requirements to be more aligned with our overall philosophy and clarified some language so every age group is covered. You can click here to see our policy.
5. (Introduced 7-16) Meet expectations. This will be a new document during our registration that will require a digital signature. This is being added so there is less confusion for parents and swimmers of what the SBSC expected meet behavior is for our club’s members.
6. (Introduced 7-16) Group 3 swimmers will be paying for the month of March. Our high school swimmers will still not be charged for their time in February and the high school boys will still not be charged for their one week of November. Over the years we have given 6-7 weeks of free swimming to our high school swimmers. Swimmers will still receive at least two weeks of free swimming every fall/winter.
Advertising Credit
Selling a one year ad on our website could earn you anywhere from $50 to almost $500. Here is the link for more information.
Another easy way to earn credit for your swim club account is to hang our recruiting posters out in the public. For every poster you hang you will receive a $5 credit up to $25. Once you hang the poster post a pic of it on your Facebook page (or other social site) and tag the club.
