No practice on Friday due to the ELK Rudolph Romp Riley families please use door #22. This is the door on the northwest corner of the building and faces Fellows Street. If you are planning to stay to watch practice there is a stairwell that is adjacent to this door, and this will lead you to the seating area. New Prairie families continue to use door N18. New Prairie swimmers are always welcome to attend their corresponding group's practice at Riley. Group 2 Night at RHS Thursday December 1 Each year we invite all of our Group 2 swimmers to help time at a RHS dual meet. This year it will be this Thursday, December 1st, Vs. South Bend Clay. We'd like everyone to arrive no later than 5:30 and to be wearing this season's team shirt. If for some reason they do not have or have misplaced their shirt please wear a yellow T-shirt. The club will provide pizza and drinks for all those who are able to attend. ELK Rudolph Romp – Dec. 2-4 – Elkhart Aquatic Center I will be the coach on deck Friday night (574-276-6057). Coach Carol (574-292-0553) and Coach Adrian (574-514-4889) will be the coaches on deck on Saturday and Sunday. If you are running late or will be unable to make it please call or text the appropriate coach. Here is a link to the document with instructions on how to register with USA-S. A few of our members have had trouble adding their swimmers once they created their own account. If you are having trouble, after the parent account is created, try using this link. If your swimmer qualifies for the Outreach Membership (free/reduced lunch at their school) click on this link. Remember, if you use this link you will need to provide documentation to me your athlete qualifies. If your athlete has never competed in a meet for SBSC (or another USA Swimming club) you will need to send me a copy of their birth certificate. The preferred way is to electronically send a pdf. If that is not possible you can email a pic or bring a hard copy to the practice. DUNE Rumble in The Region -- Dec. 17 -- Chesterton High School Our entry has been sent. Volunteer Hours For Group 3 Athletes We are in need of several lifeguards this month at Riley. If you have not volunteered yet please do so. The job sign-up for all volunteering has been set up for Riley. All athletes in this group will be required to volunteer 4 hours between now and the end of the winter season. Due to practices at NP running simultaneously we may not be able to offer volunteer opportunities at that site until high school season begins. USA Swimming Guidelines - MAAPP/Safe Sport USA Swimming issued a directive with regards to electronic communication and social media contact between coaches and athletes. Most of what is being implemented is common sense and falls in line with our club's policies. One new requirement we will need to adhere to is how your minor child communicates with me. For several years I have asked swimmers in Group 2 and Group 3 to text/email me if they would be missing practice. Moving forward, swimmers will be instructed to include a parent on all communication with me.
 If you are the parent of a Group 2 or Group 3 swimmer, and have never sent me a text before, please text me so I have your contact info in my phone. This way if I need to contact your swimmer about missing practice I can be sure to include you. My cell phone number is 574-276-6057.

Lack of Communication The Last Two Weeks I would like to apologize for the delay in returning some emails over the last two weeks. My email provider "upgraded" their system and it has not been a very smooth process. I woke up Tuesday morning to 128 new emails. I typically have less than 10 new emails every morning. Some of these were more than 5 days old. I also was unexpectedly ill most of last week which did not help in responding to those in a timely fashion. I am hoping my email system is now up to speed and I am back to feeling normal so there should not be any more extended delays in my responses. Two questions were asked more than a few times and in case I missed anyone's email I'd like to address those now. 1. Group 3 athlete should not have been billed for November training fees. When I was notified of this I returned the charges to those credit cards and deleted the charges from the accounts. If you believe your Group 3 athlete was still charged for November let me know and I will take care of it immediately. 2. Account of athletes that did not raise at least $75 during the Swim A Thon had that charge added to their November statement. If you were a first time family this year and your athletes did raise this money we only billed you for one athlete. Returning families were billed per athlete. This has been listed on our website since August under the Team Pricing Tab. Here is the link. It was included in one of the digital documents you signed when you registered and it was also mentioned in at least one of the weekly emails. If anyone needs further explanation on this please let me know. Lifeguard Class As I have mentioned in previous emails we have been struggling to get our swimmers to cover practices. Coach Brett is willing to run another class at RHS if there is enough interest. If your swimmer would like to be part of an upcoming class, have them text Coach Brett at 574-250-6358. Please remember any electronic communication between an athlete and coach must include a parent.
