Dear SBSC families, Practice Schedule Riley HS Group 1 Monday and Wednesday 6:00-7:30 G1 Elite Friday 5:00-6:30 Group 2 Monday, Wednesday 5:30-7:30, and Friday 5:00-6:30 New Prairie HS Group 1 Tuesday and Wednesday 5:00-6:30 CST Group 2 Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 5:00-7:00 CST Practice Notes: No practice Tuesday or Thursday at RHS due to high school meets. No practice on Thursday at NPHS due to a high school meet Riley families please use door #22. This is the door on the northwest corner of the building and faces Fellows Street. If you are planning to stay to watch practice there is a stairwell that is adjacent to this door, and this will lead you to the seating area. New Prairie families continue to use door N18. New Prairie swimmers are always welcome to attend their corresponding group's practice at Riley. Lack of Communication The Last Two Weeks I would like to apologize for the delay in returning some emails over the last two weeks. My email provider "upgraded" their system and it has not been a very smooth process. I woke up Tuesday morning to 128 new emails. I typically have less than 10 new emails every morning. Some of these were more than 5 days old. I also was unexpectedly ill most of last week which did not help in responding to those in a timely fashion. I am hoping my email system is now up to speed and I am back to feeling normal so there should not be any more extended delays in my responses. Two questions were asked more than a few times and in case I missed anyone's email I'd like to address those now. 1. Group 3 athlete should not have been billed for November training fees. When I was notified of this I returned the charges to those credit cards and deleted the charges from the accounts. If you believe your Group 3 athlete was still charged for November let me know and I will take care of it immediately. 2. Account of athletes that did not raise at least $75 during the Swim A Thon had that charge added to their November statement. If you were a first time family this year and your athletes did raise this money we only billed you for one athlete. Returning families were billed per athlete. This has been listed on our website since August under the Team Pricing Tab. Here is the link. It was included in one of the digital documents you signed when you registered and it was also mentioned in at least one of the weekly emails. If anyone needs further explanation on this please let me know. USA Swimming Memberships With less then 8 weeks until the end of the calendar year we need all of our athletes to complete the USA Swimming Registration. Here is a link to the document with instructions on how to register with USA-S. A few of our members have had trouble adding their swimmers once they created their own account. If you are having trouble, after the parent account is created, try using this link. If your swimmer qualifies for the Outreach Membership (free/reduced lunch at their school) click on this link. Remember, if you use this link you will need to provide documentation to me your athlete qualifies. If your athlete has never competed in a meet for SBSC (or another USA Swimming club) you will need to send me a copy of their birth certificate. The preferred way is to electronically send a pdf. If that is not possible you can email a pic or bring a hard copy to the practice. NASA Sprint Meet You can find our results by clicking here. CON Skypoint Invite I will be the coach on deck for the entire meet. If you are running late or will be unable to attend please send me a text or call as soon as you know. Here are the pertinent times for today's meet. Sunday PRELIMS (13 and over athletes) Warm-ups: 7:00-7:50 -- our athletes should be on deck by 6:45 Meet Starts: 8:00 Sunday PRELIMS (11-12 year old athletes) Warm-ups: 11:30-12:05 -- our athletes should be on deck by 11:15 Meet Starts: 12:15 Sunday FINALS (11-12, 13-14 (A and B-top 20 return) 15 & Over (A, B, and C-top 30 return) Warm-ups: 5:00-5:40 -- our athletes should be on deck by 5:00 --or later I will communicate this ASAP Meet Starts: 5:45 Athletes will be required to know if they have qualified for finals prior to leaving the pool after their last preliminary swim. The expectation is all swimmers qualifying for finals will participate in finals. ELK Rudolph Romp -- Dec. 2-4 -- Elkhart Aquatic Center The deadline to commit to this meet today, Sunday November, 13. DUNE Rumble in The Region -- Dec. 17 -- Chesterton High School The deadline to commit to this meet is one week from today, Sunday November 20. IA Tim Welsh Invite -- Jan. 6-8 -- Elkhart Aquatic Center The dealine to commit to this meet is two weeks from today, Sunday November 27. Volunteer Hours For Group 3 Athletes We are in need of several lifeguards this month at Riley. If you have not volunteered yet please do so. The job sign-up for all volunteering has been set up for Riley. All athletes in this group will be required to volunteer 4 hours between now and the end of the winter season. Due to practices at NP running simultaneously we may not be able to offer volunteer opportunities at that site until high school season begins. USA Swimming Guidelines - MAAPP/Safe Sport USA Swimming issued a directive with regards to electronic communication and social media contact between coaches and athletes. Most of what is being implemented is common sense and falls in line with our club's policies. One new requirement we will need to adhere to is how your minor child communicates with me. For several years I have asked swimmers in Group 2 and Group 3 to text/email me if they would be missing practice. Moving forward, swimmers will be instructed to include a parent on all communication with me.
 If you are the parent of a Group 2 or Group 3 swimmer, and have never sent me a text before, please text me so I have your contact info in my phone. This way if I need to contact your swimmer about missing practice I can be sure to include you. My cell phone number is 574-276-6057.

Fall and Winter Meet Schedule/Dates of Meet/Location/Deadline to commit Below is our fall/winter meet schedule. The first date listed is the day(s) of the meet and second date is the deadline to commit. Swimmers wanting to compete will need to commit to those meets. The deadlines are based on deadlines that were set in previous years. They may change once the meet hosts posts the meet information. When committing to multiple day meets if the option to select the days you want is not available, leave a message in the available notes section stating the specific days you would like to attend. Meets marked with an * require swimmers to meet minimum time standards. All pool locations can be found on our website under the "Pools" tab.
