New USA Swimming Guidelines-MAAPP
USA Swimming issued a new directive with regards to electronic communication and social media contact between coaches and athletes.  Most of what is being implemented is common sense and falls in line with our club's policies.  One new requirement we will need to adhere to is how your minor child communicates with me.  For several years I have asked swimmers in Group 2 and Group 3 to text/email me if they would be missing practice.  Moving forward, swimmers will be instructed to include a parent on all communication with me.

If you are the parent of a Group 2 or Group 3 swimmer, and have never sent me a text before, please text me so I have your contact info in my phone.  This way if I need to contact your swimmer about missing practice I can be sure to include you.  My cell phone number is 574-276-6057.

I encourage all parents and swimmers to read the full policy.  We are required to keep this policy on our website, here is the link

Open Water State Meet
We are now adding this meet to our schedule.  The meet is being held Tuesday June 25th at Eagle Creek State Park in Indianapolis.  I have attached the time standards sheet.  We have several swimmers that qualify.  Please consider attending if your swimmer is under the qualifying time.  The deadline for committing to this meet is this Thursday May 30th.

June Meets

The MSC meet the weekend of June 21st-23rd requires time standards to be able to compete.  Swimmers must meet the B time in each event to be eligible to swim in those events.  Here is a link to the page with the time standards.  The 15 and over events will use the 15-16 time standard. The deadline to commit to this meet is next Sunday June 2nd.

The NASA Summer invite has been moved to the weekend of the June 29th.  This is a week later then what was originally scheduled.  We will only be attending Saturday of this meet.

Another easy way to earn credit for your swim club account is to hang our recruiting posters out in the public. For every poster you hang you will receive a $5 credit up to $25. Here is some information from IA head coach Matt.

We are just over a week away from this year's May Invitational! We are getting set for a great meet. Please see below for some important updates for the weekend:
PM warm up for Saturday and Sunday will start at at 12:00 PM and the meet will start at 1:00 PM
There will be a minimum of 20 minutes for warm up between the PM session and the distance session. On Saturday, the 1500 Free will not start before 5:00 PM and on Sunday, the 400 IM will not start before 4:45 PM.
On Friday, the South Bend and Elkhart campuses of Ivy Tech Community College will hold their commencement exercises in Purcel Pavillion (the basetball arena), which is just a few steps away from the pool in the same building. There will be parking attendants around campus directing traffic. I have reached out to parking services for an update on traffic patterns, but as of right now, I can say that there will be a lot of traffic on campus. We are asking that everyone use the Bulla Lot for swim meet parking on Friday. I do not yet know if swimmers will be able to be dropped off at the pool, but I will send an update when I hear back from parking services.
Due to the graduation ceremony on Friday, there will be no concessions available. There will be University concessions available on Saturday and Sunday.
Psych sheets have been uploaded to Meet Mobile. Heat sheets will be provided for free through Meet Mobile all weekend. We will print paper heat sheets for coaches, but not for parents/spectators.
The 400 Free on Friday evening will be swim slow to fast, alternating 1 heat of girls with 1 heat of boys. This was not listed in the meet letter, but we wish to get more of the 11-12 year olds out earlier since they swim in the AM session on Saturday.
It is the policy of Notre Dame that if there is lightning detected within 10 miles of Rolfs Aquatic Center, we must clear the pool and must stop the meet until there have been no strikes in the radius for 30 minutes. The way-too-eary forecast shows the chance of rain and scattered thunderstorms. Hope for good weather, but should there be any delays, we will make announcements at the meet as to what the course of action will be.
All meet information can be found on our website (irishswimming.org). There is a command button on the main page titled "Team Hosted Meets." There was an error on the page previously that only allowed it to be viewed by logged in accounts, but that has been fixed and the page is now public.
We are looking forward to hosting all of you next weekend!
