Each athlete will need to fill out the attached form and hand deliver to the coach when entering the high school. All swimmers should come dressed ready to practice. There may be limited use of the locker rooms after practice. If you have any questions regarding procedures for NPHS practices please email Coach Ashley at awojtysiak@npusc.k12.in.us RHS Group 2 swimmers should come to practice in dryland clothes over their suits. They should also be wearing quality workout shoes as well. Flip flops or Crocs are not acceptable options. Swimmers are encouraged to bring a yoga mat if they have one. Senior State Our athletes continue to swim well. A few new team records, Speedo Sectional cuts, Future's Championship cuts, and a whole bunch of new best times. After two days SBSC stands in place. I will post the results to all the pertinent pages early this week. You can follow all the action on your Meet Mobile app (meet names: 2021 SRS North and 2021 COMBINED SRS) or on the Elkhart Aquatics YouTube page. Age Group State Elkhart Aquatic Center March 19th-21st Our entry is attached here. Please check for accuracy. If you notice any errors please email me immediately. I have through tomorrow to make any changes. Here are the pertinent times for the sessions our athletes will be competing in for this coming weekend's meet. Friday Session #2 Warmup 5:15-6:15 Meet Starts 6:30 Saturday Session #5 and Sunday Session #8 Warm-ups 3:45-4:45 Meet Starts 5:00 We have not been assigned specific check-in times or warm-up times (yet) so plan on having your athlete at the facility 15 minutes prior to the start of warm-up. Practice Reminders Parents please make sure your athletes are arriving to practice in their practice gear (suits and/or dryland clothes). We want to limit the activity in the locker room. The locker rooms should just be for restroom breaks and changing after practice if necessary. When dropping your swimmer off for practice please make sure they leave your vehicle wearing a mask. We have a very limited supply of disposable masks and we hope to use those when the one's they have break or are no longer viable. Finally make sure to fill out our daily screening every time they attend practice. Here is that link. Last Day of Winter Season The last day of practice at NP for Group 1 and Group 3 will be this Wednesday March 17. The last day of practice for RHS Group 1 will be Thursday March 18th and RHS Group 2 will be Friday March 19th. The last day for Group 3 will be Thursday March 25th. Spring/Summer Season 21 If you won't be attending our spring and summer session please email me no later then March 18th to avoid being charged for any spring/summer fees. If you fail to alert me and you are billed you will either be charged a $25 administrative fee before your credit card is refunded or all fees charged will be credited to your swim club account to be used when you return in the fall. Our first practices will be the week of April 11th. If you are currently registered you do not need to do anything. When you registered in the fall you were signing up for an entire year. If you have family or friends who would like to join the club the spring/summer registration is open. Remember this is not for swimmers currently registered with the club during the fall and winter of 20/21. We have been given the clearance to increase our numbers at NP. We (Coach Ashley and myself) have decided to maintain quality control we are still going to limit our overall numbers at the NP site. While we are opening some spots it will still be, at least initially limited. If you know of anyone who is interested I would let them know ASAP. At this time we have not set our schedule for the summer times at NP. We are waiting for some direction from the administration to what they will allow us to do. But, if we are anything like we were before we will have practices in the late afternoon, early evening. Practices for the spring in South Bend will hopefully return to Riley. We still have not been given a date as to when the pool will be repaired. If not, we will almost certainly be practicing at Washington High School. Riley will be going through some major upgrades this summer starting on June 1st. A new air handling unit is being installed, the locker rooms are being gutted and the lockers will be replaced with more "pool environment" quality lockers and benches, and new carpeting will be installed for the seating gallery. This construction is scheduled to last the summer. The pool, I've been told, will be ready for us to return the first of September (fingers crossed!). During the summer months we will be at Washington High School. But, we enjoyed last summer being outside so much we will again be trying to have some of our workouts outdoors again. Stay tuned! Lifeguarding The best time to lifeguard is now! We need your help!! PEASE sign-up in any available spot. USA Swimming Guidelines-MAAPPUSA USA Swimming issued a directive with regards to electronic communication and social media contact between coaches and athletes. Most of what is being implemented is common sense and falls in line with our club's policies. One new requirement we will need to adhere to is how your minor child communicates with me. For several years I have asked swimmers in Group 2 and Group 3 to text/email me if they would be missing practice. Moving forward, swimmers will be instructed to include a parent on all communication with me.
If you are the parent of a Group 2 or Group 3 swimmer, and have never sent me a text before, please text me so I have your contact info in my phone. This way if I need to contact your swimmer about missing practice I can be sure to include you. My cell phone number is 574-276-6057.
I encourage all parents and swimmers to read the full policy. We are required to keep this policy on our website, here is the link. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. -- John VanDriessche Head Coach South Bend Swim Club South Bend Riley High School (574)276-6057 www.southbendswimclub.com #SBSCForLife
