Age Group State Meet

Congratulations to Coach Ted and our all of our Age Group swimmers.  We finished in 20th place!  This makes us top 20 in both Senior and Age Group.  We are the only South Bend based team that can make that statement!

We also had 18 new team records set.  The following swimmers set records: Evie Sierra in the 13-14 girls 200 fly (2:28.59)
Autumn Baumgartner in the 11-12 girls 50 back (32.32), 50 free (28.76), 100 back (1:11.21), and 100 free (1:02.21)

Sammy Sierra in the 11-12 50 breast (40.13), 50 fly (30.88), 100 breast (1:25.87), 100 fly (1:09.86), 200 fly (2:38.20), and 200 IM (2:39.55)
Aiden Maurer in the 13-14 boys 50 back (33.28), 100 back (1:09.98), 200 free (2:11.32), 400 free (4:36.16), 400 IM (5:22.49), 800 free (9:45.44), and 1500 free (18:09.79)

Our relays also did an outstanding job lowering our team records in 4 events
Our 11-12 girls relay of Autumn, Melodie Thibault, Gabby Costa, and Lauren Meyer broke our team record by 5 seconds in the 200 free relay
Our 13-14 boys relays of Aiden, Bryce Knight, Sam Burns, and Cody Mowers set records in the 200 free, 200 medley, and 400 medley

A special congratulations to Aiden Maurer.  In his last long course swim meet as an age grouper he closes out his career as our most decorated 13-14 boy in club history.  Of the 15 events in his age group he holds 8 records, 2nd in two others, and in our all time top ten in the rest.  Looking forward to watching him attack our senior records as he ages up.  Congratulations Aiden!

Junior Nationals-Central Zones-Divisionals
This has been a very busy weekend for SBSC swimmers.  It may be the first time we have had swimmers competing at three different sites at the same time.  We have had some very fast swimming and I will post all the results as soon as they are available

End of Season Team Pool Party
We will be having an end of the year pool party at my home this Saturday August 8th from 1:00-5:00.  The club will provide hot dogs, drinks, and all the eating utensils.  If you are planning on attending please bring your favorite side dish to pass.

2015-2016 Registration
Our on-line registration platform will be operational no later then Sunday August 9th.  Here are some changes we will have in place for next season

1. Registration will now be for an entire year for both short course and long course seasons (1st announced 7-5)
2. All swimmers will be considered swimming in a meet unless a parent chooses to opt out of the meet by using our "attend/decline" function of our website (1st announced 7-12)
3. Volunteer requirement.  It has not been determined exactly how this will look or be implemented but all families of our club will be required to volunteer a certain number of sessions of the events we are involved in. (1st announced 7-19)
4. All swimmers will be allowed to practice in March regardless if they have qualified for any championship meets (1st announced 7-26)

After much thought and discussion with our staff we will be implementing a tech suit policy for our swimmers.  It is our opinion these suits have become a psychological crutch and may actually hinder long term development of our swimmers.  This policy will evolve, but will start with two general tenets. The first, no group 1 swimmer (10 and under) regardless of ability or achievement level will be allowed to wear a tech suit.  For swimmers 11 and up, they must have at least a Divisional time standard and will only be allowed to wear a tech suit when it has been approved by a coach. This new policy will be one of the documents you will be required to digitally sign during registration.

As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me
