Practice Notes:
No Tuesday PM practice due to 4th of July holiday. No Wednesday PM. No Friday AM or PM due to the IA meet. Do not arrive at Riley any earlier than 4:50 for evening practices or 6:20 for AM practices.
We will offer a Tuesday morning for Group 2 on the 4th.
Riley families please use door #20. This is the main door connected to the parking lot on the north side of the building.
IHSAA Moratorium Week July 3-9
Each summer the IHSAA mandates the week that contains July 4th ( Monday- Sunday) there is to be no contact between high school coaches and their athletes.
This week we will not be offering practices at NPHS, but those athletes are welcome to attend practices at Riley.
I will be at practice but I will not be on deck. I will be sequestered in the office and available to meet with any non-high school swimmer or any parent. All high school swimmers (or soon to be high school swimmers) are not to be in the office for any reason. Swimmers are not to arrive prior to 6:20 AM or 4:50 PM. No swimmer will be allowed into the building until another coach arrives.
The pool hallway is being stripped and waxed this week. We will not be able to use door #22. Parents and athletes should use door #20. This is the main door connected to the parking lot on the north side of the building. Once in the building parents should use the stairwell to their immediate right to enter the pool gallery through the east doors. Swimmers should use the double blue doors under the stairwell to enter and exit the pool.
IA Summer Spectacular/Elkhart Aquatic Center/July 7-9
High School athletes are NOT to arrive early or be on deck prior to the posted time. I will leave the deck of the morning sessions as soon as our last swimmer is out of the water. **If a high school athlete arrives when the AM session is in progress they should stay in the lobby until they are certain I have left.
This is a positive check-in meet. Swimmers will be required to sign in when arriving at the pool. Swimmers will need to be signed in by a specific time each session (times listed below) or they will be scratched from the meet. This is why it is so important to alert coaches when you know you will not be on time.
The following coaches will be on deck for the meet. If you are running late or will not be able to make it please text or call the appropriate coach.

Summer Divisionals
The meet is now open for commitment. The deadline to commit is next Sunday July 9.
National Meets
An initial entry has been sent for the Futures Championship. Here is our entry. A relay has been entered and paid for but is not showing on the entry. If your swimmer has cuts and is not on the entry and would like to attend please contact me in the next few days.
As of right now there is not a plan for our club to attend Junior Nationals. If your swimmer is at or near a cut and you were thinking of attending please contact me so we may set up a time to discuss our options.
New Website
If anyone experiences any issues or problems with the new site or app please let me know and I will work to find the answers.
USA Swimming Memberships
All athletes need to complete the USA Swimming Registration. Here is a link to the document with instructions on how to register with USA-S. A few of our members have had trouble adding their swimmers once they created their own account. If you have trouble after creating a parent account, try using this link. If your swimmer qualifies for the Outreach Membership (free/reduced lunch at their school) click on this link. Remember, if you use this link you will need to provide documentation to me that your athlete qualifies.
If your athlete has never competed in a meet for SBSC (or another USA Swimming club) you will need to send me a copy of their birth certificate. The preferred way is to electronically send a pdf. If that is not possible you can email a pic or bring a hard copy to the practice.
USA Swimming Guidelines - MAAPP/Safe Sport
USA Swimming issued a directive with regards to electronic communication and social media contact between coaches and athletes. Most of what is being implemented is common sense and falls in line with our club's policies. One new requirement we will need to adhere to is how your minor child communicates with me. For several years I have asked swimmers in Group 2 and Group 3 to text/email me if they would be missing practice. Moving forward, swimmers will be instructed to include a parent on all communication with me or any of our coaches.
If you are the parent of a Group 2 or Group 3 swimmer, and have never sent me a text before, please text me so I have your contact info in my phone. This way if I need to contact your swimmer about missing practice I can be sure to include you. My cell phone number is 574-276-6057. I encourage all parents and swimmers to read the full policy. We are required to keep this policy on our website, here is the link.
Spring and Summer Meet Schedule/Dates of Meet/Location/Deadline to commit
Below is our spring/summer meet schedule. The first date listed is the day(s) of the meet and the second date is the deadline to commit. Swimmers wanting to compete will need to commit to those meets. The deadlines are based on deadlines that were set in previous years. They may change once the meet hosts posts the meet information. When committing to multiple day meets if the option to select the days you want is not available, leave a message in the available notes section stating the specific days you would like to attend. Meets marked with an * require swimmers to meet minimum time standards. All pool locations can be found on our website under the "Pools" tab.
