New Prairie Satellite
Late last month we were informed the NPHS pool was going to be closed for some much needed upgrades and repairs.  While this is great news for the future of swimming in the New Prairie area it does create some immediate hurdles for our club.  An exact time table for these repairs was not given, but it is likely the pool will be closed until school starts again in the fall.  The South Bend Swim Club is committed to making our club work for this school and community.  Without a pool we are not left with any options for practice at the school.  For the spring and summer we will only be offering practices at Riley High School.  Because of this added hardship and we will be offering a special deal for all of our New Prairie families.  If a NP swimmer stays with the club for entire spring/summer season the July training fee will be credited back to their swim club accounts.  For those families who swim the spring/summer and sign back up in the fall we will also credit back one month of training fees when the winter season is completed.

I am asking all of our current New Prairie families to let me know, through email, their intentions for the spring and summer.  Because of the pool closure and the added travel to RHS I will assume your swimmer will not be swimming unless I hear differently from you.  This only applies for our NP families.

Swimmers Not Continuing into the Spring
If your swimmer is not continuing into the spring, and have not done so already please email me.  If I do not receive an email from you I will assume you plan on your swimmer continuing into next season.  Those accounts will be charged the spirit wear fee, the meet surcharge, and the April technology fee.  The accounts that choose the seasonal membership when registering in the fall will also be charged the seasonal training fee and those that choose the monthly will be charged the April training fee.

Please remember if you are already registered for the fall/winter season you do not need to re-register.

Our first day of spring practice will be Monday April 11th for Group 2 and Group 3 and Tuesday the 12th for Group 1.

Club Posters
We are also asking for help with placing our recruiting posters out in the community.  If you are able to find a church, school, or place of business willing to hang our poster you will receive a $5 credit on your swim club account.

Summer Meet Schedule
Our schedule is finalized You can click hereto see our entire meet schedule.

This season we are going to have 4 different meet categories.  Those will be 1) Meets for swimmers without a Divisional time standard and all of our 10 and under swimmers.  These will be one or two day meets in short course yards.  2) Meets for swimmers 11 and over with at least one Divisional time standard.  These will be 3 day invites in long course pools typically not in the South Bend area. 3) Whole team meet.  These will also be 3 day invites in long course pools in the South Bend area. 4) Qualifier meets.  These meets will be at the end of the season and swimmers will have to meet qualifying times to attend.

As per our policy we set in place last season swimmers will be entered into the meets they do not decline.  All swimmers not declining will be entered in meets designated "whole team meets".  For the other meets, swimmers will only be entered into the meets where they meet the criteria.  For example, any 10 and under swimmer will not have to decline attending the meets designated as 11&O+Div Q+.  For those swimmers 11 and over with at least one Divisional time standard they will not have to decline meets designated Non Div Q+10&U.

Age Group State Championship
We had a small contingent of 5 swimmers attending this year but they did an outstanding job.  We had 20 individual swims and 85% of those were lifetime bests.  Sammy and Evie Sierra each set four new team records.  Sammy set new records in the 11-12 boys 50 back (30.95), 100 breast (1:13.64), 100 fly (1:02.87), and the 200 IM (2:20.64).  Evie set records in the 13-14 girls 200 fly (2:10.72), 500 free (5:15.58), 1000 free (10:47.75), and the 1650 free (18:09.51).  Even with only 5 swimmers at the meet we finished 41st out the 104 clubs in the state!
