Practice notes:There is no practice on Monday due to Memorial Day and there is no practice on Friday due to the CON meet. NP swimmers are welcome to attend any of their corresponding groups practices held at Riley High School.

MSC Summer Splash (6/23-26) and IA July Invite (7/7-9)
I have move the deadline to opt of both of these meets to tomorrow evening Monday, May 29th. To be eligible for the Munster meet swimmers must have achieved a minimum of the "B" time standard in those events. This standard was determined by the meet host. Swimmers who have signed up for the the NASA Invite on June 24th have been "opted out" of this meet already. If your swimmer meets the time standards and has not opted out by tomorrow evening they will be entered in the meet

The IA meet does not have minimum time standards and everyone is eligible to compete. This is our last regular season meet and if your swimmer does not have Divisional or State cuts it will be the last opportunity to race for the next three months. Swimmers will be entered in this meet if they do not decline attendance by Monday evening.

NP Groups Summer Hours
Starting the week of June 4th all NP practices will start one hour earlier. Group 1's practices will begin at 5:00 CST and Group 2 and Group 3 practices will begin at 4:00 CST. Also, during the IHSAA Moratorium week (July 2nd-8th) we have been informed we will not be able to conduct practices at NPHS. If you have any questions about this please contact Coach Ashley.

CON BW3 Invite
I have attached our entry. Parents please write your swimmer's events/numbers on their arms prior to arriving at the meet. Here are the pertinent times for this weekend's meet. If you are running late or if you will not be able to make it to the meet please send me a text as soon as possible(574-276-6057).

Friday -- Events #1-#14
Warm-ups 4:00-4:50 (our swimmers need to be on deck by 3:45)
Meet Starts 5:00

Saturday and Sunday AM Session -- all 13 and over swimmers
Warm-up 7:30-8:15 (our swimmers need to be on deck by 7:15)

Saturday and Sunday PM Session -- all 12 and under swimmers

Ava's Upcoming Schedule
Ava will be meeting with Group 2 and Group 3 on Tuesday this week.

NASA June 24th Invite
I have re-opened the meet commitment function on our website. I also have sent 2 reminder emails to those families who have not yet made a decision about this meet. This is a meet we choose specifically for our newer and less experienced swimmers. I highly encourage all families who have swimmers that fall into those categories sign up for this meet. We will be attending Saturday only. The final deadline to opt of this meet is tonight.

Ava's Upcoming Schedule
Ava will be meeting with Group 3 on Tuesday this week

Team ShirtsThe shirts are in and will be handed out to the swimmers this week at practice. If they have not been to a meet they will also receive a new swim cap for this season. Parents who ordered shirts may also pick those up this week as well. Swimmers at NP will have their shirts no later then Thursday.

High School Physicals May 24th
This Wednesday Riley High School will be providing physicals for all students who intend to play high school sports next school year. This is open to everyone, not just RHS athletes. The physicals begin at 2:45. You can access the form by clicking here. The form must be signed by a parent and the cost of the physical is $20.

NASA June 24th Invite
This is a meet we choose specifically for our newer and less experienced swimmers. I highly encourage all families who have swimmers that fall into those categories sign up for this meet. We will just be attending Saturday only. The deadline for opting out of this meet is tonight. I will not automatically be entering swimmers with 3 or more Divisional cuts (and faster) in this meet. This meet is on the same weekend as the MSC Summer Splash. Swimmers who have 3 or more Divisional cuts (and faster) will be automatically entered in that meet if parents have not opted out.

CON BW3 Invite
The Merrifield pool was vandalized this week and according to the article in the South Bend Tribune they do not know if they will be able to open this summer due to possible cost to repair. I've sent a message to the CON head coach and asked him to let us know as soon as possible if he is told the pool will not open and they have to cancel their meet. If we are informed by May 14th we would still have time to enter the LCB Invite (at Lake Central High School in St. John IN) on the weekend of June 9-11th. I have added that meet to our website and the commit/decline option has been turned on. I will not automatically be entering swimmers for this meet. I will only enter swimmers that have committed. If you would like to attend this meet (if the the CON BW3 Invite is cancelled) please commit your swimmers by Saturday May 13th

IA Meet May 12th-14th
I have attached our entry. We are asking parents write their swimmers events and event numbers on their hands or arms prior to arriving at the meet. This alleviates quite a bit of hectic work for our coaches at the meet. You can also access your swimmers events by logging onto our website or using the OnDeck App. Here are the pertinent times for this weekend's meet:

Ava's Upcoming Schedule
Thank you to the parents who were able to come to Ava's meeting last week. The club has invested quite a bit into having Ava help with our program I strongly encourage our parents to take advantage of the opportunities she is providing. She will be speaking with Group 3 and Group 2 this week on Tuesday

Picking Up Your Swimmers
I want to remind parents of our policy of picking up swimmers. All swimmers must be picked up within 15 minutes of the schedule ending time of practice. Swimmers will never be held longer then what the practice schedule says. Parents should never have to wait on just as we expect to never have to wait on parents. If a swimmers is not picked up within the 15 minute time frame parents are subject to fines. I just ask that our membership respect the time of our coaching staff. I do understand there emergencies and and unforeseen circumstances. In those situations a text message to alert me should be sent.

Spring-Summer T-shirts
Our order has been placed we are on the printers schedule for this week. Hope to have the shirts by the end of next week.

CON BW3 Meet June 2nd-4th
The deadline to opt out of this meet is this evening. This is another long course meet and is not appropriate for any of our new swimmers with no prior competitive experience. For all others, if you do not want your swimmer in this meet you must decline attendance to avoid being entered and being responsible for the meet entry fees.

IA Meet May 12th-14th
I was informed yesterday we can make updates to our entry through tomorrow. If you did not want your swimmer in this meet and they were entered because you neglected to decline attendance send me an email by this evening and I will remove them from the meet. I have attached our entry so you can double check if your swimmer is entered.

NASA Off The Blocks Invite
Here are the pertinent times for this coming Saturday's meet

10 and under AM session
Warm-ups 7:00-7:45 (our swimmers need to be on deck by 6:45)
Meet Starts at 8:00

11 and over PM session
Warm-ups 12:00-12:45 (our swimmers need to be on deck by 11:45)
Meet Starts 1:00

In past seasons the morning session has been pushed back to a later start time. As of this morning the published start times are still in place. Please check your emails/our website/our social media sites for any updates. If there are any changes I will send out that information as soon as I receive it.

Parent Meeting with Ava Tuesday 5/2
This Tuesday Ava will be addressing athletes motivation and what we can do to increase it. The meeting will be held in one of the classrooms across the hall from the pool locker rooms. The meeting will begin at 6:00 and be done by 7:00.

Birth Certificates
To our new families that have not already done so please email, or bring in a copy of your swimmer's birth certificate. Please remember Indiana Swimming will fine us if your swimmer competes and does not have proof of their age on file. As part of the digital document you signed all fines imposed because of this violation will be the responsibility of the parents.

NASA and IA Meets
Please remember if you do not plan on attending these meets the deadline to opt out is tonight. If your swimmer is brand new to the club this season I will not be entering them in the May IA meet. The meet is larger, in a 50 meter pool, and may be a little overwhelming for new swimmers. The NASA meet is very appropriate first meet experience for them.

Ava's ScheduleAva had her first meeting with all groups on Tuesday. She will be returning this Tuesday to work with Group 3. She will also be holding a parent meeting on Tuesday May 2nd. The meeting will be held in a classroom across the hall from the pool and will begin at 6:00 and be done by 7:00. Ava will be discussing what motivates athletes motivation and what we can do to increase it.

Here is some information for some upcoming clinics in our area you might be interested in attending.

The first ones are being held at Concord High School on April 29th and 30th. The one on the 29th is part of the Green Flag series designed for swimmers who have been competing for less then 2 years. If you are interested in this clinic use the code: FLAGELK to save $64. Here is the link for the registration page.

The second day of the clinic, on the 30th, is the High Performance clinic and it is for ALL swimmers 12 and older. The code for this event is INDY and that will also save you $64. Here is the link to that registration page.

Welcome Back Ava
Ava Blennerhasset, a sports psychology specialist, will be returning to work with our club this spring and summer. Our plan is to have her work with our Group 3 athletes once a week, Group 2 every other week, and Group 1 once a month. She will be covering a variety of topics all centered on how our swimmers can improve their swimming while learning to truly enjoy it. She will also be conducting parent workshops once a month. These topics have yet to be fully developed so if you have any interest in learning more about certain sport psychology subjects let me know and I will try to work those in to her talks. Ava will be working with our athletes that attend Riley practices but I will announce her dates early so if any of our NP swimmers want to attend they can adjust their schedules. Ava's first visit back to the club will be this coming Tuesday April 18th. She will be speaking with all Groups that day.

The second day of the clinic, on the 30th, is the High Performance clinic and it is for ALL swimmers 12 and older. The code for this event is INDY and that will also save you $64. Here is the link to that registration page.

There is also another Fitter and Faster Tour stop in Holland Michigan on May 20th and 21st. The one on the 20th is for swimmers 11 and under. Here is the link to registration page. The one on the 21st is for swimmers 12 and over. Here is the link for registration.

Below is our spring and summer meet schedule. All swimmers are considered swimming in a meet unless a parent declines attending. I'm also asking if you know your swimmer will be attending please commit them to the meet. If the option to choose days is not yet available please leave a note as to which days you would like to attend.
