Fall and Winter Season Our on-line registration platform is now active. You can click here to go directly to our registration page. All swimmers will need to register to be on our active roster for the fall. Also, please remember you will be registering for the fall/winter and the spring/summer seasons. You of course have the option to discontinue at any time. Our first official practice for the fall will be Tuesday September 6th.
New for this season is we will be asking all Group 3 members to volunteer 4 hours during the upcoming season. This can either be assisting our coaching staff with our Group 1 practices or life-guarding any of the Group 1 or Group 2 practices.
We will also be changing the meet surcharge a little as well. Last fall and winter season we charged $26 at registration. This year we will charge $15 at registration and add $1 to the meet entry fees for each meet a swimmer attends.
New Families You should have received a system generated email that confirmed your registration to the team. If you did not receive one please email me. The email also included instructions how to log into your SBSC account. There will also be a parent meeting sometime in September with a break-out session for all new families. Details on the date will be finalized after we get approval for the use of one of the computer labs at RHS
Swim-A-Thon Saturday October 22nd We will also be hosting our 4th annual Swim-A-Thon on Saturday October 22nd. One of the things I take pride in our club is that we are able to provide a quality program at very little cost to our members. In fact our training fees have remained the same as they were when we started in 2006. The downside to our reasonable fees is that our coaches have not received a raise in several years. I would like to use a significant portion of the proceeds raised this season to go directly to increasing our assistant coaches wages.
I would also like to continue our marketing and advertising. In the last year we have developed and produced a recruiting poster. We hired Franko Design to upgrade our logo and our brand (unveiling coming soon). We have also mailed out our newly designed brochures to all South Bend Schools students in grades 2-4. This amounted to over 4000+ brochures in families hands during the Olympic games. We also have thousands of more brochures ready to distribute to all the parochial and private schools this fall.
If we are able to raise funds like we have in past seasons I would also like to continue our relationship with our sports psychology professional. Ava Blennerhassett. We were fortunate this season to work with Ava at no cost. But as she moves forward with her practice compensation will be required to be able to maintain the amount of time she spent with us.
So are three goals for this year's Swim-A-Thon: 1. Reward our assistant coaches with higher wages 2. Continue moving forward marketing our club 3. Maintain our working relationship with a sports psychology professional
New Prairie Satellite Coach Ashley contacted me this week and it looks like we will be able to start practice on October 3rd. Families who plan on being part of the NP satellite are welcome to attend practices at Riley in the September or they can wait until October to begin. Registrations that have selected any of the NP training groups will be contacted to determine when they would like to start practices.

Summer Divisionals We had a small number of athletes in attendance but we swam well and spent as much time as anyone on the podium. Congratulations to Forrest Baumgartner for setting a new team record in the 15-18 boys 200 free (1:46.93) breaking Coach Brion's record set in 2014.
