Practice notes: I will be attending NP on Tuesday and Coach Tyler will be there on Thursday. There is no scheduled practice for Group 2 on Friday because of the Divisional meet.  If there are any Group 2 swimmers that will not be at Divisionals on Friday and they are more then welcome to attend Group 3 practice.  If that time does not work for your schedule please let me know.

CON Last Chance Meet

There will be a time trial held this evening following the afternoon session.  If we have any swimmer who is close to achieving a Divisional or State cut please consider staying for this.  I have not been told, but I am assuming each event will be $5.  Parents will be responsible for payment when registering for these events.  I will be at the meet today to help answer any questions.

Post Season Shirts

We are planning on producing team shirts for our Divisional qualifiers and another one for our State qualifiers. I anticipate the cost of the shirts to be between $10-$12.  If your swimmer qualifies they will receive those shirts and you will see a charge placed on your account.  If for any reason you decide you do not want the extra shirt(s) just let me know and there will be nothing added to your account.  But, please if you do not want a shirt just let me know and you will not be charged.   Also, please double check the size you have listed for your swimmer on your account page.

If there are any parents that would like one of theses shirts please email me by tonight.  We will be placing the order first thing tomorrow morning.

Divisional Championship Northridge High School

I have attached our official entry report we received from NASA.  Please double check your swimmer's entry and let me know if you notice any errors by this evening.  Including if your swimmer qualified for an event at CON this weekend that they are signed up to swim at Divisionals.

At the beginning of this season we implemented several administrative changes for our program.  In past years only swimmers who had qualified for the championship meets were allowed to continue swimming in March.  This year allswimmers are being allowed to continue even if they have not met any time standards.  Also new for our club is we have eliminated the spring registration for swimmers who participated in the fall/winter season.  If your swimmer is currently registered they will also be registered for the spring and summer.

If you decided you no longer want to participate, at any time please, send an email prior to the first of the month to avoid being charged.  For example if you are choosing to stop swimming after the CON meet I will need an email prior to March 1st.  If you are deciding not to swim the spring and summer season I will need an email before April 1st.

NCISC Championship Meet

Congratulations to our entire program.  We placed third overall and Willa Kricheff set a new team record in the girls 8 and under 25 freestyle with a time of 17.43.

The morning session started a little rough but once things got going all seemed to go well.  Hosting a meet of any size takes a considerable amount of effort from so many people.  I wish words could show my appreciation but I know they never begin to express the gratitude I truly feel.  Whenever you thank people publicly there is always a chance you might leave someone out.  If you volunteered your time in any wayyesterday, thank you for helping our club put on an amazing display of teamwork and family spirit.  I would like to single out some of our volunteers who went above and beyond what any one could rightfully ask. 

 

First I would like to thank Amy Roush of the Parks and Recreation department.  Her daughter last swam for us 3 years ago and she still has no problem giving up her entire Saturday to help with all the administrative task associated with hosting a meet.  

I would also like Jessica and Michael Knight.  They took on one of the least enviable jobs of a meet host by running the concession stand. Having a well stocked/staffed concession stand certainly helped ease the grumblings of the fans when we were experiencing our technical difficulties.  

My final thank you goes to the entire Maurer family. The "smaller jobs" they helped with included timing, clerk of the course, and posting the results.  Most coaches I know rank their meet experiences by a few different things.  It could be how well their teams swam, how efficient the meet ran, or if there were any timing system issues. There is one thing that will supersede all of the other parts of a meet.  The one question I get asked (or that I ask) most often by other coaches is, "How was hospitality?"  I heard from coaches from every team that we have the best hospitality room they have ever experienced at any meet at any level.  Thank you Darci and Chris for taking on this huge task and making it look so easy!

The South Bend Community School Corporation has canceled school for the day.  Per their policy all non-school activities are also canceled. This includes our practice scheduled for this evening, Wednesday February 10th.  Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Entries for NCISC and CON Meets

The entries for all swimmers who have committed to these meets by 6:00 AM this morning are complete.  If your swimmer is close to qualifying for a championship meet those were the first events selected.  Please double check your swimmer's entries.  If you believe your swimmer is not entered in events with that provide their best chance for qualifying please let me know as soon as possible.  I can make changes to our entry through the end of practice Monday evening.  

The deadline for opting out of these meets is tonight.  If you do not wish to swim in these meets please decline attending.  High school swimmers will not be entered in these meets unless parents choose to commit.

NCISC Championship Meet 

Thank you to the families who have already made their donations. We are still in need of everyone's help with donations and volunteering for the meet.  If you have not done so already please log-in to our website and sign-up for the job you would like to do

 

The following items are needed for the hospitality room and our concession stand.  If you are able to donate these items please go to the job section for this meet and list what you are able to bring.  The donations will need to be brought to the pool by Thursday the 11th.  If you can't bring those items by that time please do not volunteer to bring them.  On Friday our hospitality and concession stand coordinator will be picking up any items not donated.  Last fall we had several people bring their donations the day of the meet and we had several items left over.

Gatorade/PowerAde- 3 cases of the 24pk 20oz bottles

GSI and MSC Meet Results

Congratulations to Sammy Sierra who set 3 new team records in the 11-12 boys age group.  Sammy's record breaking swims came in the 200 IM (2:25.23), 200 fly (2:26.58), and the 200 back (2:29.29).

The results are posted to our website.  Click here for GSI and here for the MSCresults.  Our qualifiers page has been updated.  If you believe your swimmer has qualified for Divisionals or State please double check they are listed on the page.  There have been some errors with this program and not all swimmer's events are showing in the report.  Our all-time top 10 is up to date through these meets.

New Prairie Group 2

I was informed that all of our NP Group 2 swimmers will be participating with their middle school team in February and March.  At the end of this month all of those swimmers will be placed in non-active billing groups and will not be billed any training fees.  If you paid for seasonal membership your account will be credited for those two months.  These swimmers will still be on our active roster and can still participate in our meets.  They can also use their times done in middle school meets to qualify for Divisionals or Age Group State.  They will be returned to the active billing groups starting in April unless I receive and email stating you do not wish to continue.

Our meet declaration system has been turned on. The deadline for opting out of this meet is Sunday January 31st, one week from today.  This is a meet our club is hosting and we will need the help of everyone to a run a successful meet.  The jobs (volunteer) section for this meet has also been activated.

IA Dual Meet
Sammy Sierra set a new team record in the 11-12 boys 100 free (59.51).  This was Sammy's first time breaking 1 minute in this event. For those of you that were either competitive swimmers or have older children in our program you can appreciate what a big career milestone that is.  Congrats Sammy!

GSI and MSC Meet Results
I hope to receive the results file sometime today.  As soon as I do,  I will update all of our pages on our website.

CON Last Chance Showdown 2/26-28

End of Fall/Winter Season Start of Spring/Summer Season
At the beginning of this season we implemented several administrative changes for our program.  In past years only swimmers who had qualified for the championship meets were allowed to continue swimming in March.  This yearall swimmers are being allowed to continue even if they have not met any time standards.  Also new for our club is we have eliminated the spring registration for swimmers who participated in the fall/winter season.  If your swimmer is currently registered they will also be registered for the spring and summer.

If you decided you no longer want to participate, at any time please, send an email prior to the first of the month to avoid being charged.  For example if you are choosing to stop swimming after the CON meet I will need an email prior to March 1st.  If you are deciding not to swim the spring and summer season I will need an email before April 1st.

Our last practice for Group 1 and Group 2 swimmers for this season will be March 24th.  Our last day for Group 3 swimmers will be March 30 or 31st.  Our first day of spring practice will be Monday April 11th for Group 2 and Group 3 and Tuesday the 12th for Group 1.

New Prairie Group 2
I was informed that all of our NP Group 2 swimmers will be participating with their middle school team in February and March.  At the end of this month all of those swimmers will be placed in non-active billing groups and will not be billed any training fees.  If you paid for seasonal membership your account will be credited for those two months.  These swimmers will still be on our active roster and can still participate in our meets.  They can also use their times done in middle school meets to qualify for Divisionals or Age Group State.  They will be returned to the active billing groups starting in April unless I receive and email stating you do not wish to continue.
