New Prairie families use door N18. New Prairie swimmers are welcome to attend their corresponding group's practice at Riley.
Senior State
A VERY good first few days for our four swimmers competing. We have 5 swims today. You can follow all the action on your Meet Mobile app (2022 ISI Senior LCM Championships) or on the Indiana Swimming You Tube channel.
Last Day of Summer Season
Our last day of this season for all groups at NP and Groups 1 and 2 at RHS will be Thursday July 28. We may be offering Group 3 AM workouts in August. If we do, there will not be a charge for those practices.
Fall/Winter Season
Our first practice for all groups will be the Tuesday after Labor Day, September 6. All swimmers will need to re-register. The plan is to have our on-line registration platform up and running by Monday August 8. There will be some changes for the upcoming season.
1. My role with Group 1 and Group 2 during the school year will be greatly reduced. As most of you know Cooper is entering his senior year and Molly will be a freshman. What most of you probably do not realize is my family has not sat down and had dinner with each other on a school night, ever. Since Cooper will be leaving for school in about 13 months I feel it's time I change that before the opportunity is gone forever. I say this not looking for sympathy, my choices have been my choices. I am, however, hoping there is understanding. The summer of 23 I plan to be back to the same level of on deck presence that I have always had. (First announced 7-11)
2. We will be enforcing the 4 hour volunteer requirement for all Group 3 athletes. In conjunction with this we will offering a lifeguarding class for all of our athletes that are 15 and over. This class will be August 13 and 14 at Riley High School. This class will be at no cost to our athletes but they will be required to guard additional hours at our practices to cover the cost. If an athlete is currently a lifeguard we will pay for their recertificiation in exchange for more hours guarding our practices. Every athlete that is 16 or over registered with the class will also certified to a USA Swimming Junior Coach. Again, this cost will be covered by the club. Info below. (First announced 7-11)
3. We have signed with a new suit company and our contract begins this fall. Our new company is called A3 Performance. Our plan is to have a team store up and running by the first week of practice. You can check out their website and what they have to offer by clicking here.
4. During the Covid summer if a visitor was to watch our practice they would be hard pressed to determine what team was practicing. Very little SBSC caps or apparel were worn. We had caps, T-shirts, and bags from college teams, high school teams, and former club teams. I decided at that time no cap was to be worn at practice unless it was a team issued SBSC cap. There is little doubt now if a visitor were to come to one of our Group 2 or 3 practices what team was in the water. We have allowed for one day a week where swimmers can wear whatever cap they own. Those are our Fun Cap Fridays. Starting this coming season we are going to require our Group 1 athletes who wear caps to wear our team caps during practice. We will also be requiring all athletes, specifically our Group 3 swimmers, to wear only club T-shirts and apparel at meets. Any bags, hoodies, or shirts representing another team are not to be brought to meets.
Lifeguard/Coach Training August 13 and 14
Coach Kelli and Coach Brett will teaching this class for us. If you are interested you will need to email one of the coaches ( kellinotteboom@gmail.com or bcfm1777@gmail.com). Athletes will be sent an online learning link on August 6th. To register our coaches will need an email address (swimmers should avoid using their school email address if possible) and the proper spelling of their first and last name. The online portion will need to be passed before moving on to the in-person training. The in-person portion of the class will be on the 13th and the 14th at Riley high school from 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM each day. If you have any questions about the class please contact one of the coaches.

USA Swimming Guidelines - MAAPP/Safe Sport
USA Swimming issued a directive with regards to electronic communication and social media contact between coaches and athletes. Most of what is being implemented is common sense and falls in line with our club's policies. One new requirement we will need to adhere to is how your minor child communicates with me. For several years I have asked swimmers in Group 2 and Group 3 to text/email me if they would be missing practice. Moving forward, swimmers will be instructed to include a parent on all communication with me.
If you are the parent of a Group 2 or Group 3 swimmer, and have never sent me a text before, please text me so I have your contact info in my phone. This way if I need to contact your swimmer about missing practice I can be sure to include you. My cell phone number is 574-276-6057.
I encourage all parents and swimmers to read the full policy. We are required to keep this policy on our website, here is the link.
Spring and Summer Meet Schedule/Dates of Meet/Location/Deadline to commit
Below is our spring/summer meet schedule. The first date listed is the day(s) of the meet and second date is the deadline to commit. Swimmers wanting to compete will need to commit to those meets. The deadlines are based on deadlines that were set in previous years. They may change once the meet hosts posts the meet information. When committing to multiple day meets if the option to select the days you want is not available, leave a message in the available notes section of the specific days you would like to attend. Meets marked with an * are meets that require swimmers to meet certain time standards. All pool locations can be found on our website under the "Pools" tab.

Open Water State Meet -- CANCELED
I received an email on Tuesday informing us the Open Water State Meet had been canceled. A reason was not given but after conversations with coaches at last weekend's meet it appears they were unable to secure enough officials with the proper accreditation on a Tuesday to work this meet. Since the meet is on a recreational body of water it would not work on a weekend due to the large amount of boaters expected on a Saturday or Sunday.
Munster Summer Splash
I will be the coach on deck for the entire meet. If you are running late or will not be able to make it please text me at 574-276-6057. Our entry is attached. Here are the pertinent times for this weekend's meet. All times are local to Munster, CST

Team Shirts
This season's shirts were handed out last week. If your athlete is not swimming in June or July but was registered with the team prior to May 1 we have their shirt at the pool. You can stop by during practice to pick it up. Please email me, or Coach Ashley if your a NP swimmer, that you are coming so we can have the shirt ready. We did order a few extra shirts in various sizes. If your athlete would like a shirt please stop by after practice to see if we have their size. These will be on a first come first serve basis. Please do not email and expect us to hold a shirt. Remember these shirts are for athletes and coaches. We will have spirit wear and other SBSC gear for families this fall.

New Prairie families use door N18. New Prairie swimmers are welcome to attend their corresponding group's practice at Riley.
Elkhart June Invite
I will update our website with our results early this week.
Pick up and Drop off
The doors for PM practice at Riley will not be open until 4:45. If athletes arrive before this time they will be unable to enter the building. I would also like to remind parents swimmers are to be picked up within 15 minutes of the posted ending time of their practice. This was included in the terms and conditions you digitally signed at registration. If coaches are required to wait with swimmers after this 15 minute mark fines will be placed on those accounts.
USA Swimming Guidelines-MAAPP/Safe Sport

The pertinent times for this weekend's meet are listed below. If you are running late or will be unable to make it please send me a text (574-276-6057). I will let those specific swimmers know when I get an answer back from the Elkhart meet management. We are being allowed to send updates through tomorrow. Group 2
During our summer months we allow select Group 2 athletes to attend the RHS Group 3 morning practices. G2 Swimmers attending these practices will be billed an additional $15 each month. These swimmers must have at least one Divisional cut in their age Group. The number of practices allowed is determined by the swimmer's age. 11 year olds may attend once each week, 12 year olds twice, 13 year olds three times, and 14 year olds four times. If the Group 2 swimmer will be an incoming freshman they will be allowed to attend the weight room session of the practices. If they are not starting high school in the fall they will not be lifting. So, the days we are scheduled to lift those athletes and should be on deck by 7:00 and ready to swim by 7:15 (this week M, T, TH). On the non-weight room days they should be on deck by 6:30 (This week Wednesday and Friday).
