This is the door on the north west corner of the building and faces Fellows Street. If you are planning on staying to watch practice there is a stairwell that is adjacent to this door and this will lead you to the seating area. New Prairie families use door N18. New Prairie swimmers are welcome to attend their corresponding group's practice at Riley. Elkhart June Invite I will update our website with our results early this week. Pick up and Drop off The doors for PM practice at Riley will not be open until 4:45. If athletes arrive before this time they will be unable to enter the building. I would also like to remind parents swimmers are to be picked up within 15 minutes of the posted ending time of their practice. This was included in the terms and conditions you digitally signed at registration. If coaches are required to wait with swimmers after this 15 minute mark fines will be placed on those accounts. Team Shirts This season's shirts were handed out last week. If your athlete is not swimming in June or July but was registered with the team prior to May 1 we have their shirt at the pool. You can stop by during practice to pick it up. Please email me, or Coach Ashley if your a NP swimmer, that you are coming so we can have the shirt ready. We did order a few extra shirts in various sizes. If your athlete would like a shirt please stop by after practice to see if we have their size. These will be on a first come first serve basis. Please do not email and expect us to hold a shirt. Remember these shirts are for athletes and coaches. We will have spirit wear and other SBSC gear for families this fall. USA Swimming Guidelines-MAAPP/Safe Sport USA Swimming issued a directive with regards to electronic communication and social media contact between coaches and athletes. Most of what is being implemented is common sense and falls in line with our club's policies. One new requirement we will need to adhere to is how your minor child communicates with me. For several years I have asked swimmers in Group 2 and Group 3 to text/email me if they would be missing practice. Moving forward, swimmers will be instructed to include a parent on all communication with me.
If you are the parent of a Group 2 or Group 3 swimmer, and have never sent me a text before, please text me so I have your contact info in my phone. This way if I need to contact your swimmer about missing practice I can be sure to include you. My cell phone number is 574-276-6057.
I encourage all parents and swimmers to read the full policy. We are required to keep this policy on our website, here is the link. Spring and Summer Meet Schedule/Dates of Meet/Location/Deadline to commit Below is our spring/summer meet schedule. The first date listed is the day(s) of the meet and second date is the deadline to commit. Swimmers wanting to compete will need to commit to those meets. The deadlines are based on deadlines that were set in previous years. They may change once the meet hosts posts the meet information. When committing to multiple day meets if the option to select the days you want is not available, leave a message in the available notes section of the specific days you would like to attend. Weekly Announcements for Week of 5/29-6/4

Dear SBSC families, Practice Schedule Riley HS Group 1 Tuesday and Thursday 6:00-7:30 G1 Elite Friday 5:00-6:30 Group 2 Tuesday, Thursday 5:30-7:30, and Friday 5:00-6:30 Group 3 PM Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 5:00-6:30 Group 3 AM Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 6:30-9:00 New Prairie HS Group 1 Tuesday and Thursday 5:00-6:30 CST Group 2 Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 5:00-7:00 CST Group 3 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 6:00-8:00 AM CST Practice Notes: No practice on Monday due to Memorial Day. Riley families please use door #22. Summer Schedule Starting this week we begin our summer practice schedule. No Wednesday PM practices at RHS. RHS and NP Group 1 practices will now be 90 minutes long for the remainder of the summer. When possible G1 Elite will be moved on Monday (this week will it be on Friday) NP Group 3 will be practicing in the morning. RHS Group 3 will be adding the weight room to their morning practices. We spend the first 40-45 minutes of 3 morning practices each week in the weight room. Most weeks those days will be Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday but they may vary so athletes should come prepared to lift everyday. This means they need gym shoes, shorts, and T-shirt. (This week we will be in the weight room Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) Riley Pool This summer the RHS pool will be having the air handling units replaced. Ultimately this is great news for the long term health of our facility but it may cause some disruptions for our practices this summer. We have been asking for clarification on dates, procedures, and potential down time since last fall. At different points of this process I have been told multiple and conflicting scenarios. I have been told we could be down for up to a year or maybe just until December. I have been told, in April, the project was not happening this year. I have also been told we may not be out of the pool at all. I spoke with one of project engineers last week and when pressed for specific dates he said he would let me know as we get closer to the start date. My next question was, "If you're here, aren't we close to starting?" That question was just met with a smile and no answer. I realize I have shared very little actual information. I did want everyone to know their could be changes to our routine and I'm asking for patience and flexibility. As soon as I learn anything that can actually affect us I will share with you. Group 2 During our summer months we allow select Group 2 athletes to attend the RHS Group 3 morning practices. G2 Swimmers attending these practices will be billed an additional $15 each month. These swimmers must have at least one Divisional cut in their age Group. The number of practices allowed is determined by the swimmer's age. 11 year olds may attend once each week, 12 year olds twice, 13 year olds three times, and 14 year olds four times. If the Group 2 swimmer will be an incoming freshman they will be allowed to attend the weight room session of the practices. If they are not starting high school in the fall they will not be lifting. So, the days we are scheduled to lift those athletes and should be on deck by 7:00 and ready to swim by 7:15 (this week T, W, TH). On the non-weight room days they should be on deck by 6:30 (This week Friday). CON BW3 Blazin' Invite I will post our results later this week. You can follow all the action on your Meet Mobile app. USA Swimming Guidelines-MAAPP/Safe Sport USA Swimming issued a directive with regards to electronic communication and social media contact between coaches and athletes. Riley families please use door #22. Communication With Me Over the past few weeks I have received multiple text messages from our parents. I sincerely appreciate any and all communication from our membership. The unfortunate side to text messaging is if I don't have the opportunity to respond right away the message gets pushed off the screen. When this happens I have a tendency to forget about them. Text messages work great if an athlete is running late or will be unable to attend practice/meet. They also work well if your questions do not require any depth to answer or require any time for me to research. Any question you might have will always be answered best by using email. Midwest Collegiate Showcase Invite -- 5/7&8 -- Elkhart Aquatic Center I will be the coach on deck for both days. If you are running late or will be unable to make it please send me a text at 574-276-6057. Our entry is attached here. You can also find your swimmers events by logging into our website or by using the OnDeck app. Here is a list of the speakers (and when they will be speaking) and here is the meet packet. Here are the pertinent times for this weekends meet. Warm-ups 8:15-9:45 -- our athletes should be on deck by 8:15 Meet Starts 10:00 There will be three presentations at the meet this weekend. One after the first three events each day and one after the final event on Saturday. DUNE Rockin' Races Invite -- 5/14 -- Chesterton HS Our entry has been sent and details for this meet will be included in next week's email.
Meets marked with an * are meets that require swimmers to meet certain time standards. All pool locations can be found on our website under the "Pools" tab.
