RHS Practice Groups

Practice Notes:   No practice on Wednesday at NP.  No practice at Riley on Friday due to the IA meet.  NP swimmers are allowed to attend their corresponding group's practice at Riley if it is more convenient for the family.

Entering the Buildings During Break

NP families should use door N18.  The main entrance will be locked.  Riley families should use door #22, the same door we use in the summer. This door is on the northwest corner of the building and faces Fellows street. If parents are staying for practice they should use the stairwell adjacent to door #22 to enter the seating area.

Meet Starts: 5:00

Saturday and Sunday Prelims-all 11 and over swimmers

Doors open: 6:45

Warm-ups: 7:00-7:45-our swimmers need to be on deck by 6:50

Meet Starts: 8:00 AM

Saturday and Sunday 10 and under session

Warm-ups 11:00-11:45-our swimmers need to be on deck by 10:45

Meet starts: 12:00

Saturday and Sunday Finals for 11 and over swimmers

Warm-ups: 4:00-4:45-our swimmers need to be on deck by 4:00

Meet Starts: 5:00

The 11/12 events will have an A and B final (top 16 swimmers from prelims advance).  The 13 and over events will have and A, B, and C final.  The C final will be restricted to 13-14 year old swimmers.  If there are not enough 13/14 swimmers to fill the C final, then the 15 and over swimmers will be inserted into the open spots.  It is each swimmers responsibility to determine if they have qualified for finals. 

Coach Carol (574-292-0553) will be the coach on deck on Friday.  I (574-276-6057) will be the coach on deck on Saturday and Sunday.  If you are running late or will not be able to attend please text/call the appropriate coach.

New USA Swimming Guidelines-MAAPP
USA Swimming issued a directive with regards to electronic communication and social media contact between coaches and athletes.  Most of what is being implemented is common sense and falls in line with our club's policies.  One new requirement we will need to adhere to is how your minor child communicates with me.  For several years I have asked swimmers in Group 2 and Group 3 to text/email me if they would be missing practice.  Moving forward, swimmers will be instructed to include a parent on all communication with me.


If you are the parent of a Group 2 or Group 3 swimmer, and have never sent me a text before, please text me so I have your contact info in my phone.  This way if I need to contact your swimmer about missing practice I can be sure to include you.  My cell phone number is 574-276-6057.

Swimmers wanting to compete will need to commit to those meets.  The deadlines are based on deadlines that were set last year (or best guess for new meets). Declaring For Meets

Since we have switched over to a new, more mobile friendly, website some of you may be having trouble declaring for meets.  The process is still the same but if you are using a computer you may have to get to the meet declaration page differently.  On the old website there was a tab at the top of the page listed as "Meets".  There is no longer a meets tab.  But if you click on the "Calendar" tab and when that page opens click on the "Team Events" tab and that will pull the page with all of our meets.  You can also scroll down and on the right hand side of the page there is a section listed as "Upcoming Events", click on "Team Events" and you will see all of our upcoming meets.  If you are using the website on your phone just scroll down until you the "Upcoming Events" section.  If you have been using the OnDeck App to declare for meets that process should be the same.

Dune Rumble in The Region/Chesterton High School/Saturday 12-14

Duneland Swim Club is using this meet as food drive for the Chesterton Food Pantry. The admission fee for spectators is one non perishable food item or $5.

Spirit Wear
A couple of changes are being made to our spirit wear.  First, the performance beanie is going to be slightly different.  The one we had selected is out of stock.  The one we are replacing it with is will be all navy without the white band.  We are also not going to be offering the towel.  Unfortunately, we only had 8 ordered and the minimum order was 48.  We contacted the company and offered to pay a premium for a smaller number but they were unwilling to do so. While I would love to be able to purchase the other 40 and sell those over the next few years I did not feel the additional $2500+ was a proper use of club resources.  To those that ordered towels, I can credit your account or I can send you a check for the amount.

Divisional Relays
I have attached a rough draft of what our Divisional relay entries could be.  We are allowed to enter 2 relay teams per relay event.  This is where we stand after the first 4 meets.  Please note this is not final.  So many things can change.  This is just for your information and to let you know your swimmer may be one of our relay swimmers.  The plan is to update this report after the DUNE meet in December, the IMX meet in January, and each of the meets in February.  Final decisions for relay selections will not be until the Monday prior to the Divisional meet.

Spirit Wear
All order forms and checks are due tomorrow.  The order form is attached.  NP families you can turn your ord  I will be driving to New Prairie after we finish practice at Riley on Monday to pick up the forms.  I should arrive between 7:15 and 7:30 CST.

Just Add H2O
I received an email from Kathy, the owner of Just Add H20, regarding placing custom orders in time for Christmas presents.  All orders must be in by today December 1st.  Any order placed after that time will not be guaranteed to be done before Christmas.  Please plan ahead.  This is a small shop with only few employees.  They are also the only local swim shop in the area.  An area that includes several club and high school teams.  Again, please plan ahead.

Group 2 Night at RHS Thursday December 5th
Each year we invite all of our Group 2 swimmers to help time at a RHS dual meet.  This year it will be this Thursday, December 5th, Vs. South Bend Clay.  We'd like everyone to arrive no later then 5:30 and to be wearing this season's team shirt.  If for some reason they do not have or have misplaced their shirt please wear a gray T-shirt.  The club will provide pizza and drinks for all those who are able to attend.  Families of Group 2 swimmers should have received an email notice/invitation to this event again yesterday.  If your swimmer is able to help time please commit them to the meet so I will know how much pizza to purchase.  Commit to this event like you would any other meet.

LaPorte Maple City Classic December 7th & 8th Our entry is attached.  You can also find your swimmer's entry on our website and by using the OnDeck app.  Here are the pertinent times.  All times listed are LaPorte times.  LaPorte is on CST.
